Just a few days ago, Nokia published a video to their Youtube channel, a video, of a Music video, being recorded on over 100 Nokia Camera Phones. How does that work I hear you ask. Well, put them all in an empty swimming pool, throw in some shiney floating balloons, some coloured lighting, and let the band start playing, and singing, and what you have, is a very unique Music Video. Well, of course after all those camera phones footage has been edited of course. I bet that was no easy feat. Anyway, to get the full rundown on what all this is about, including some short interviews with the band, The Noisettes, checkout the video below.
Once you have watched the video above, head over to www.shotbyfans.com which details all the various video footage from all Nokia camera phones used to shoot the Music Video, and you can mix and match these, and make your very own version of the video.
Nokia is planning to develop the operating mode of its Salo plant to ensure production is focused fully on the high-value smartphone market, especially in Europe. The key drivers for a new operating mode in Salo plant are diverse customer requirements, faster deliveries in high-end mobile device manufacturing and the company's transformation towards a solution-driven offering. The plans will result in the introduction of new and highly specialized manufacturing methods and also entail changes to personnel at the facility.
The planned new focus for Salo is expected to affect a maximum of 285 employees involved in production and in related support functions at Salo. Today, Nokia's Salo facility employs approximately 2 200 people. Nokia will support alternative solutions, such as finding new positions at Nokia for as many employees as possible. Nokia will begin consultations with employee representatives about these plans, including discussions about voluntary severance packages. Additionally, Nokia plans to stop currently ongoing rotational temporary lay-offs at the Salo plant by the end of June 2010.
"Salo is a crucial part of Nokia's global manufacturing network. Plans involving changes to employees are always painful, and they are set in motion only after thorough consideration. However, with these plans our aim is to ensure the plant's future competitiveness and its special role as one best suited to the production of high value mobile devices," says Juha Putkiranta, Senior Vice President, Markets, Nokia.
Nokia has a strong global mobile device manufacturing network with ten manufacturing sites in nine countries - Brazil, China, Finland, Hungary, India, Mexico, Romania, South Korea and the United Kingdom.
Recently I was contact by Gregory Taieb of Symbian France, asking if I would be interested in taking part in a short series of Interviews, which Gregory was putting together some key questions relating to Nokia, and Symbian forward to an handful of Nokia, and Symbian Experts. Of course, I was honored to of been chosen, and replied, and said that I would be very happy to take part.
The Series of Interview questions, and individual answers have now been published in full, so I thought now would be a good time to let you guys see for yourself, what myself, and the other guys interviewed said regarding our series of Nokia, and Symbian questions. Head across to Symbian France here for the full breakdown.
Thanks to NokiAAddict via twitter for the heads up on this new YouTube update, V2.2.30 is now available for most Nokia handsets by pointing your device url to m.google.com.
All About Symbian's Steve Litchfield also mentions that the latest version in Ovi Store is only V2.2.29, and goes onto mention that there are no newly found features in this update, no Specific N97 version, and still no sign of log in availability either, so update is mainly bugfixes only.
In this second Interview in a brand new series of Nokiausers Interviews with Nokia Enthusiasts, I interview part-time blogger, and self confessed Nokia Addict, @Gerrymoth of NokiAAddict.com. Also found on Twitter @NokiaAAddict.
Hi Gerry, first of all, many thanks for taking to the time to take part in our new Nokiausers Interviews with Nokia Enthusiasts, you have provided some interesting answers, and I'm sure our readers will also find them of interest. Ok, to cut to the chase.
Please tell us a little about yourself, and how you become a part-time blogger, and how NokiAAddict.com come about?
I started blogging years ago about PALM applications, I used to own T2, T3 and Treo 600 and used to have a HowTO and downloads page for friends and anyone else interested. Switched to Nokia in early 2004 when working for a software house and we used to be very quiet sometimes inbetween software releases and I was allowed to surf the net till work started back again, so I used to find new applications for my then Nokia 7610. I kept the hobby going and moved from my old VOX website to the NEW nokiAAddict website in 2008 when I realised one day I was only blogging about Nokia products and was a bit addicted to them. How many Nokia devices do you actually own at the moment?
Currently I own and use a Nokia 5530XM, 5800XM, E71, N800 and N900. Also have a Nokia 6120 Classic at the very bottom of my lapbag, but don't really use it much. What was your very first Nokia device? My first Nokia device was a 5510. Total brick, but it had a full qwerty keyboard and you could record FM Radio :) Cast your mind back over the years, can you remember each Nokia model you have owned? Can you list them in order, oldest first? Nokia device, may not be in exact order, but here goes for all devices I have actually owned:
Nokia 5510 Nokia 8310 Nokia 6230 Nokia 6630 Nokia 7610 Nokia 1100 Nokia N73 Nokia N95 8GB Nokia E61 Nokia E71 Nokia 6120 Classic Nokia N800 Nokia 5800XM Nokia 5530XM Nokia N900
Doesn't look many, but if you add in all the trial devices I've used it would be alot :D
Which Nokia device previously owned sticks in your mind for pushing the boundaries in terms of functionality, and technology? (Be it screen size, Colour, Build etc). For me the Nokia N73 opened up for me what Nokia S60v3 could do and was the device which really got me hooked on Nokia. Which Nokia handset/s do you dislike, and what reasons for not liking it?
The Dog or as Nokia call it the N96. I had it on trial for a Nokia Challenge and I just hated the device from the minute I got it. I had a Nokia N95 8GB at the time and thought Nokia had gone backwards with the release of the N96. The N96 early firmware was really really shocking and I don't thinks its been fully fixed yet, plus I don't install alot of the applications I had on the N95 8GB on the N96 and that just wasted the whole experience for me.
Following on from yesterdays announcement from The Symbian Foundation making Symbian Open Source, Rafe Blandford (AllAboutSymbian) and Ewan Macleod (MobileIndustryReview) tracked Lee down at the Symbian Foundations old Factory Offices to have a little chat about the Open Source announcement.
When the duo first arrived at Mr Williams Office, Rafe, and Ewan witnessed Lee sending an important tweet using Tweetdeck. Checkout the first video below to see who exactly he sent a tweet to.
In the second video below Lee Williams talks to Rafe about the decision, and major move to Opening up Symbian to the masses.

The Nokia 6303i classic will start shipping in select markets during the first quarter of 2010.
The Nokia Beta Labs team are pleased to introduce you to a new experimental application called Nokia Diagnostics. The intention is to create a solution for helping millions of Nokia users diagnose, troubleshoot, and configure their devices with ease on their own, and the Beta Labs team believe that exposing this idea to the Beta Labs community and sharing this application prototype would help them realise just that.
With Nokia Diagnostics, you can diagnose, troubleshoot and configure your device using five different tests:
Network Coverage test. You can get all the network related information and detect offline status & SIM card presence.
Internet Connectivity test. Perform a real-time Internet connectivity test and identify the setting with which you can have a seamless internet access.
Battery Charger test. Check if your device charges properly with the charger connected.
Loudspeaker, Earpiece test. Check your loudspeaker & earpiece functionality.
Please download the application (requires login), try it out on your device, and post your feedback at Beta Labs. In particular, they are interested in hearing about other diagnostic tests you would expect to see in such an application.
