Bolt – The J2ME Mobile Browser you should not to underestimate

BoltLogoYou may have noticed a recent test post that I published here on NokiaUsers, which I posted from my Nokia N95 8GB. It wasn’t as easy as I expected due to the software platform that Nokiausers use to publish new content to the front page. If you are familiar with writing, be it your own site, blog, or a website you contribute to, you may of heard of Joomla. This is a platform that is used for many online sites, forums, and news pages.

My first attempt to publish a test article, I tried the native S60 Browser, and although all was going well. I managed to successfully log in to the admin control panel, and set about writing my test article. It wasn’t until I tried to publish it, is where the problems started. I simply could not get the publish button to activate in the native browser, so I then decided to try another browser, BOLT, which was highly recommended to me by fellow blogger, kflyer, who writes his own blog, MobileRoyale, and updates it daily, with news, articles, posting pictures, and video content all from his Nokia N95. That’s right, he does not even own a computer; he does absolutely everything from his mobile device, his N95. Much respect to Kflyer, simply amazing!

bolt2I have to admit, I had not even heard of Bolt’s Browser until now, so didn’t quite know what to expect, however, I was confident it would secure my needs to publish to Joomla, after my friend Kflyer from MobileRoyale reassuring me that it’s the fastest free J2ME mobile browser available, and its fast, but best of all, very simple to use, with no bloated, over complicated unneeded features.

After installation on my N95 8GB, I launched Bolt, and was pleasantly surprised by how quick it connected, and loaded pages. I have been connecting via my home WiFi network, and it appears to be just as quick as the native browser, if not quicker, and even has a welcomed status loading bar at the top of the screen, so you know exactly what is going on whilst your viewing web content.  Click "Read More" to continue, where you will find download details, and screenshots.

When I launched Nokiausers admin panel, I set about writing my second test post, and was delighted to find that it did indeed let me publish my article all completely direct from my Mobile device.

Of course, there are other options available out there, LiveBlog, and LifeBlog, but these need some custom settings, which at the time, I didn’t need the over complicated setup, and was looking for something out of the box as it were.

Now, the reason behind me wanting to get more mobile, and publish to Nokiausers from my Nokia, is because I will be attending Nokia World in September, this year it’s being held in Stuttgart, Germany, and I will be representing NokiaUsers there, and I’m planning to publish some live content for all our readers direct from the event to Nokiausers front page, all from my soon to be had Nokia N97. I will then be writing an in more depth overview of each day activities when I get back to my hotel. This will obviously include many photos, videos, and of course, unique content.

Nokia World this year is a two day event, 2nd, and 3rd of September, and being held at Messe Stuttgart, Germany. Having previously worked in Germany for a couple of years, for Nokia I may add, I’m hoping that my German language skills can be put to the test, and hope they are not too rusty.!

Back to the Bolt Browser, if you have been experiencing the same issues as I had with the native S60 browser not enabling you to either, publish content to your blog/site, or activate certain criteria within a webpage, then I highly recommend you give Bolt a try, its completely free, and very simple to use. You will find Bolt far more simple to use that having to add your sites atom etc within the likes of LiveBlog, and LifeBlogYou can follow BoltBrowser on Twitter here too.
