I woke up to a little treat in my inbox from the Joiku people this morning. JoikuSpot Light beta app has been updated to 1.1. The update for the application that allows your WiFi enabled S60 device to act as a hotspot linking up to your mobile data network to the masses includes a LOT of improvements
to stability and a bunch of bug fixes. You can also now rename SSID to JoikuSpot_xxx,
where xxx is defined by the user. We're asked to be patient as they work on WEP for the next update "within a month". Fantastic news, keep up the great work over there at Joiku. I'll be playing around with it for quite some time this week on holiday. I'm quite pleased to hear about the stability fixes, as lately I've been having trouble staying connected with my laptop when using JoikuSpot. It's a brilliant piece of software that's only getting better. If you're not running JoikuSpot yet- hop on over there to grab a copy .
Release notes for JoikuSpot Light Beta 1.1:
-SSID can now be renamed to JoikuSpot_xxx, where xxx is defined by the user
-Multiple APN creation bug fixed
-A LOT of improvements to stability
-All your comments are mostly welcomed. WEP encryption is on next release within a month. Please be patient. :)
The team at Joiku are working to bring us many more fixes and optimizations. Certainly the WEP functionality is something that will be quite welcome sometime in the next month- until then, be careful about how and where you use this app as there are no security measures in place yet. Soon. Patience. :)
