Nokia Search just got that much better. According to a Nokia press release, the ability to search Google directly from the standby search will soon be a reality. It looks as though the recently announced N series will have the function built in, while those using existing models should hopefully receive an update in the future. "The integration will begin in select markets with the Nokia N96, Nokia N78, Nokia 6210 Navigator and Nokia 6220 classic. Google search will be extended to additional Nokia handset models in the future. Ultimately, Nokia will make Google search available to its customers in over 100 countries around the world, serving mobile owners speaking more than 40 languages." Given I have a N95-3, I don't have the luxury of the built in search to my standby screen (yet). For the rest of you, I would hope this wouldn't take a firmware release to implement. It would be great to drop a quick search on G without having to initially fire up the browser, not to mention the possibility (hopefully) to integrate addresses and phone numbers from searches directly into map locations and contacts.
