News today released that two giants from different industries are looking to form an alliance to better serve their clients, Nokia and Facebook. According to a article from the Wall Street Journal, Nokia the largest handset maker and Facebook the largest visited mobile social networking site are hoping to build off each other by incorporating new services with Nokia headsets.
One item mentioned would be the Facebook contacts would be synced with your phone contacts and you would be able to see this information via the phone and react. When you look at a person in your contacts it would tell you if they were perhaps online so that then you can send a message to them or write them a note. It seems that Nokia and Facebook are looking to create a very useful application aspect for certain hardcore users who cannot get enough of Facebook.
Talks between the two companies has been taking place for a while and we are expected to hear news at MWC regarding this alliance. Also according to the article is seems Nokia is looking out for their clients first. They stated that Nokia wants to protect the data of the mobile users from Facebook so they cannot use it to build a data base for things such as browser usage or purchasing habits,
I know there are readers out there that love Facebook, MySpace, etc.. but I am just not one of them. I was previously signed up for Facebook, then thought I deleted my account but really just deactivated it, and opened it up in the middle of last year. Facebook is nice and all but I really only visit it maybe once a month if that but seem to get emails left and right from it. I am in favor of this alliance due to face that it is technologies and software moving forward. I am just not a NokiaUser that feels this software is something I would want on my phone. I would have been last year when I used Facebook a lot more but not now, I am fine with the Facebook mobile site on my N95 browser.
