CeBit 2008 is coming up tomorrow in Hanover,
Germany which is where Nokia has decided to release information about two new
phone models for European markets. The
first which is a flip phone, the 6650 boasts MP3 controls, micro SD slot, HSPDA,
2.2” TFT QVGA screen, and a 2 megapixel camera. Great features but no means a multimeda work horse. It seems stylish with features that
make it worth looking at if you’re signing on the bottom line with T-Mobile and
would like a decent inexpensive phone, can we say…1 euro with a rate plan according to Nokia.
The second phone is for Vodafone, the
6124 classic, another candy bar styled phone which is multimedia driven. This phone features 3G Broadband, 2
megapixel camera, memory expansion slot up to 8gb of memory, 2” display, and an
S60 platform. Vondafone feels this phone is
a great addition to their company. In Nokia’s press release Jens
Schulte-Bockum, Global Director Terminals at Vodafone, states “"We are
proud to offer the new Nokia 6124 classic which will allow our customers to access
the complete suite of Vodafone communications, browsing, content and Internet
services. In addition, the exclusive Nokia 6124 classic offers customers’
further improvement in their experience with many of Vodafone's services
already launched with leading Internet partners."
Both of these phones have great
features that will be adding to the Nokia line; although they are not ground
breaking by any means but it is at least meeting a demand for customers who are
not willing to pay the extra for the likes of a N-Series. It is always cool to see new phones period,
so keep up the good work in Finland. Some more pictures after the jump. Also, check the forum out, member GSi-R posted some great information on the 6124 Classic.

Our friends at WOM World are hosting a get together of
Nseries fans in the London area later this week. Regular readers will be
familiar with this group as hosts of many events that help get the word out on
the world of Nokia Nseries products and services. WOM World is a wealth of
resources on the Nseries universe, linking of all the news, reviews and
discussion that they find as they scour the Internet day and night to keep
Nokia users connected to the word on the street as told by the people that use
the devices. If it’s buzzing in the Nokia blogosphere, it’s on WOMWorld.com .
That being said, the wonderful people at WOM World have proven time and time
again that they can effortlessly exceed graciousness when they host an event
and are genuinely a fantastic group of people all around. If you’re in the
London area, you want to clear next Wednesday the 5th of March from your
calendar. It all goes down about 6:30pm at the Old Crown Pub in London near
Holborn. There is no reservation required, and all Nseries fans are warmly invited
by WOM World to share drinks with other Nseries enthusiasts.
Ryan Gallagher will be making a stop there on his leg of the
Urbanista Diaries to do something called a ‘camera toss’. Whatever this is, you’re
most likely better off watching his demo at the Old Crown Pub on Wednesday
rather than taking this pastime on as your own. Several other Nokia bloggers
hail from the London area- the expected guest list may include Jay and
Christian from MyNokiaBlog.com , faces
from AllAboutSymbian.com and others. My buddy Ricky Cadden seems to have word that
Whatleydude, the Jaiku and SpinVox evangelist will be making an appearance. Sharing
a pint with this absolute top-notch bloke will be well worth the price of
admission alone, which is only to tell everyone that PseudoFinn says hello. ;)
If you’re in the area, you’re not gonna want to miss out on
what is sure to be a great time with drinks, discussion with other Nokia - and
no doubt the crew from WOM World will be bringing some devices along for you to
play with.
Here’s a map for anyone out there who hasn’t installed Maps 2.0
yet. :-)
-Edit-
A partial confirmed guest list-
Rafe Blandford
James Body
Christian Haslam
Ewan MacLeod
James Whatley
And the crew from WOMWorld of course. Donna, Robbie and Richard will be there- perhaps others...? At any rate, the way this guest list is shaping up- it's no doubt the "can't miss" Nseries event of the month! If you're in London- drop in, say hello and enjoy a pint with fellow Nokia addicts. :)

According to an article on InformationWeek, Nokia has teamed up with University of Cambridge to create an incredible concept for a phone, called Morph. This truly shows the ideas behind the great minds at Nokia where they need to be headed.
The idea behind Morph, is that is uses a form of flexible materials along with nanotechnologies to create an elasticity type product. It will be transparent and have self cleaning surfaces. As you can see by the images after the jump this little puppy can be folded almost anyway. I like it best laying flat like a LCD screen.
"Nokia Research Center is looking at ways to reinvent the form and function of mobile devices; the Morph concept shows what might be possible," said Bob Iannucci, Nokia's CTO, in a statement.
Nokia said what they have taken away from this concept is that some of the features maybe able to be a part of high end mobile products and also the use of nanotechnology could lower costs of device within, and yes this disappointed me, 7 years. Who has seven years to wait for this thing, I was thinking it should come out Q4. Do you think Nokia is on the right track?
If you want to check out this god of a phone, the concept is featured at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City from February 24 to May 12, as part of the "Design and the Elastic Mind" exhibition.
Check out Images after the jump.

The true replacement for the N73 is definitely on the way. The N78 is a
great leap forward from the N73 in several areas- starting with the
battery life. Up from the N73's 1050mAh battery is the 1200 mAh
capacity of the N78. This allows for nearly another 10 hours of audio
playback on the N78 with a quoted 24 hours of continuous audio playback
over the N73's 14-15 hours. Even with the FM transmitter in constant
use, you'll be seeing 19 hours of playback time. These are impressive
figures.
As far as imaging goes- the N78 is not in the pixel race,
instead Nokia wanted to improve the ability for users to actually do
something with the images. This is where the one-click sharing comes
in, allowing a user to instantly upload any image to Ovi Share, Flickr,
Vox, etc. Geotagging is now available out of the box with the use of an
integrated AGPS module in the device, which does well to add more to the
experience. One thing that would be nice to see would be auto
uploading, but there's no word on that- at least it's not currently planned to
be a feature.
Read on for more early impressions...
