“The entrance to the two story experience is marked with the
vivid "Nokia blue". Flooring and ceiling uses Finnish inspired
Silvered Birch while the interior is distinguished by the use of perimeter LCD
screens and translucent walls, back-lit by mood-evoking LEDs.” –Nokia Press
Release, Feb 8th, 2008
Hmmmm, sounds like its out of
movie, well it isn’t and its real! A
press release from Nokia on their website confirms that Nokia opened its doors of
a Flagship Store to the public right in London, UK.Although I don’t have the opportunity to just
make the jump over seas and check it out, NokNok TV has a video showing you how
the store looks inside. It seems very
contemporary, well designed and honestly makes me jealous there isn’t one in my
town. This store joins the ranks of
about 7 others worldwide with another one on the way in March of 2008 at
Heathrow airport.Check out the full
article from Nokia’s website after the jump.

Nokia announced the 3120 classic,
although designed like that of the old 3120 this new classic (I know it’s an
oxymoron) candy bar slim phone packs a good punch in it's small frame. According to Nokia’s site under European
Phones (its current location) the phone features a user friendly S40 interface
for navigation.Operating frequencies
are GPRS: MSC 1(850/900/1800/1900),Quad-band
GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900, Dual-band WCDMA 850,2100 / 900,2100 / 850,1900.Having a large operating frequency range I
could see this phone being in the United States soon after release, but don't quote me on that. Other features that will grab your attention. the phone boasts 3G, a Micro SD slot up to 4 gb, 2” QVGA screen, 2 mega
pixel camera on back and another cam on the front, MP3 Player, FM Radio supporting Visual Radio, and
slim dimensions of 4.3" x 1.8" x .5".According
to EngadgetMobile , this phone will run €150, $223 at release next quarter in a large range of colors such as Plum, Graphite,
Chestnut Brown, Powder White, and Deep Red.
Wow, that’s a lot of bang for the buck, also check out more pictures
after the jump.
Here's something I've been hoping for ever since I strapped on my first WiFi Nseries device- JoikuSpot. This wicked little app turns your Nseries mobile into a WiFi hotspot, sharing your 3G connection to anyone in range- even if that's some poor schlub with an iPhone. Now that lot too can appreciate HSDPA and revel in the marvel that is how mobile browsing should really be.
One thing to note is that this beta release does not allow for encryption, nor does it care about MAC addresses, so you'll want to be careful with it- lest you share your 3G with the world (I say thee 'yay' open networks and share with my brother, though you may disagree). A roadmap is in the works that adds such needful security features, but for now- if you're part of a crowd that needs data now, and there's no WiFi access, be the guy that saves the day. Just be sure to tether yourself not only to your fellow data users, but to a wall as well- this app will no doubt beat the living hell out of your battery. I hope to do some testing on that later and report back, and will most assuredly be taking JoikuSpot with me on the trip to Mobile World Congress next week.
I've just used it to connect an N82 to my N95-3, and it works great- though you want to make sure you're not currently connected to a WiFi network or you will see startup errors. Click here for the download, and happy sharing. :)
