The N81 is the first revamp of the Nokia N80. It's better screen resolution, and new slide design makes it a step above the original.
Core Features
The camera is really a step down from the N80, which had a 3.2MP camera, compared to the 2MP one founf on the N81. It can snap photos at the maxium resolution of 1600x1200 pixels. Flash is present, and also a front VGA camera for video calling.
Media feels right at home on this model. With it's 3.5mm headphone output and stereo bluetooth, so listening to music or a video on the go is covered. The N81 has a FM Radio as well. WiFi helps speed up web browsing or checking emails when not in a high speed network area.
The newest feature for any N-Series, is the touch sensitive Navi-Wheel. This features works form the Music Player and the Image
Gallery. It mimics a touchpad by sensing your movements on it, making it easier to navigate through songs or photos. The only
drawback to this is that the Navi-Wheel did not work with every appliccation on the mobile, specifically the web browser.
With the only drawback being a downgraded camera, the N81 out does it predocessor by leaps and bounds. New slider body design, better screen, the N81 is one solid device.
The N81 8GB was launched on August 29th 2007, replacing the 12MB phone memory with 8GB's of built in flash memory, making it more of a media dedicated mobile. It also was able to run the N-Gage Application.
