Garnet OS (formerly known as Palm OS) has recently announced a Maemo compatible emulator, giving access to over 30,000 applications to Nokia tablet users. The beta, already available for download here, brings support to the 770, 800, and future 810 models. If you're asking yourself why you would want to run Palm software on your perfectly working tablet, stop wondering- do it because you can. "Garnet VM enables Nokia Nseries users to run thousands of Garnet OS (formerly Palm OS®) applications. Garnet VM supports some of the most popular applications in the mobile market including, Google Maps™, Snappermail®, DateBk5 and perennially popular games like Bejeweled®, PacMan and Sudoku." Since I can already run Google Maps on my N800 and the rest of those "apps" look like useless games, I will definitly be passing this up. This may be a last ditch effort to bring some excitement back to the Palm OS, however I have to commend Garnet for bringing support to the Nokia tablet world.
