Lot's of info to come on the device- I've got to get cooking for a dinner party tonight, but I wanted to give you my first impressions and observations...
It's much faster- processing of photos takes about three seconds, and in another two seconds, it's ready for the next shot. Not too bad! There's a new option in the photo options that I'll speak about in a little bit... The new navigation key array is actually not as bad as I thought it would be- the dpad is raised a bit around the rim, making it easier to use and less likely to hit the center button. They keypad is illuminated in white, not blue (this is also the same for the US variant). While I prefer the aesthetics of the blue lit keys, it's much easier to read the white keys. There's plenty more new with this device, there's a new battery door latch system- I know of two N95ers that have busted the clips off the door, so that's an improvement. There's a few changes to the OS- the podcasts are now listed in the music menu, and there's a new multimedia menu- which does NOT load when you change the display's format to landscape! One last thing I want to say right now is that there is a different feel to the device. Despite the fact that it's no larger, other than a TAD bit thicker due to the necessary increase in real-estate to accommodate the larger capacity battery- this thing feels CHUNKY! It's probably just the perception of the screen, and the fact that my "old school" N95 just feels smaller somehow. The new screen makes a LOT of difference by the way- not just by having things a little bit larger, but I've already notices that they were able to fit in another active standby shortcut in the standby screen, and there's a battery level display in the camera mode now too. I'll bet that's not all they changed with the larger screen... Plenty more to come later tonight on the new device. Keep watching. :)
