LinkedIn is a well known Social service for users to share their professional experiences in their line of work, build connections, and even help users change careers, and look for that new job.

Recently Nokia launched their mobile client of LinkedIn, and was created using Qt with the LinkedIn Platform, the company’s development toolkit to allow programmers to access the network from external applications.

I had a lot of difficulty installing this on my E7 due to various issues with the Qt packages I use, and to this day, i still can’t install it, but remember I do Beta test a lot of things, so this maybe isolated just to me, and few others.

N8 installation went fine however, and having had a play around with this app, I’m happy to report that it’s impressive! Very quick with a pleasant UI, and smooth User Experience, which matches the likes of the LinkedIn app on iOS, and that’s saying something.

Joao Luis and DhruvBhutani were quick to respond to my tweets for assistance with my issue which turned out a simple solution, my new Silver E7 didn’t have Qt installed, so after being pointed in the right direction, I was up and running, and boasting the new Nokia Pure Font, and the lovely Nokia Sleeping Screen which rocks!

For all you Mac OS X users out there, great news, Nokia has recently updated its plug-in for iSync, which now brings functionality to the latest Symbian^3 handset, the Nokia N8.

You will now be able to sync your contacts, and calendar items from your N8 to your MacBook.

Installing the plugin

Use the list on this page to see if your device needs a plugin. If it does, follow these steps to download and install the plugin.

1. Run Apple Software Update to make sure you have the latest version of iSync. The minimum requirements to use the plugin are Mac OS X 10.4.9 and iSync version 2.4.
2. Download the plugin from the link next to your Nokia device model. After you accept the licence agreement the download starts.
3. Make sure iSync is not running.
4. Double-click the downloaded plugin disk image to open it in Finder.
5. Double-click the installer package. This will have a file name ending in “.pkg”.
6. When the installation is complete, drag the disk image file to the Trash to eject it.
7. Start iSync from the Applications folder.

Many of you may, or may not of heard of the recent “Curse of Silence” Virus, which attacks S60 Smartphones via SMS, and up until now, there have been only a couple of options to protect yourself against it.  One of these options would cost you around $60 per annum, an application from F-Secure, and another, Upgrading, or reinstalling your devices Firmware.

Well now, Nokia, after taking a bashing from several sources, from concerned owners, to various Media fronts, Nokia has come up with a solution.  SMS Cleaner, and best of all, its completely FREE.!

This application can clean a Nokia S60 3rd Edition (Initial or Feature Pack 1) based device, which may have received a so called “Curse of Silence” SMS message, and thereby restricted from receiving any new SMS messages.

After you have installed the application, it will ask for execution permission. During execution, application attempts to clean received Curse of Silence-messages from your phone. After execution the application will be deinstalled and phone will be restarted.
