Default The Nokia N82 - best N Series ever?

I have had my N82 for almost two months now, and have to say this is the first Symbian handset I've ever owned that feels 100% the phone it should be.

Not a single fault that plagued my N95-1; the battery goes for up to 3 days at a time, there is oodles of RAM and the OS is finally stable and swift.

The ONLY niggle I had has been fixed by the latest firmware release (bug that killed the camera app if the slider was opened/closed too quickly), but other than that I have no complaints at all. A firmware update by the way, that was non destructive. Everything was as I left it before the update, messages, contacts, settings - the lot!

The styling isn't to everyone's taste, BUT as far as I'm concerned this is every bit the phone that I should have had last year, when I bought the N95 AND has a xenon flash which finally means that I can take great photo's on the move without the need for bright sunlight.

Some of you may not want to lose the large screen, but personally I think the panel is better than on the N95-1, it's definitely brighter and richer in colour, and as the resolution is the same I don't feel like anything is lost.

For those with the N95-1, and who think the N96 is a whopping disappointment (I wouldn't be buying it even if I hadn't already ditched the N95), the N82 is worth every penny as an upgrade - unless you're in the states of course, in which case you're still onto a loser with the lack of 3g.

Overall though, this is without a doubt the best Nokia I have ever had the pleasure of using.

N82 specs.

Dimensions

Volume: 90 cc
Weight: 114 g
Length: 112 mm
Width: 50.2 mm
Thickness (max): 17.3 mm

N95 8GB.

Dimensions

Volume: 96 cc
Weight: 128 g
Length(max): 99 mm
Width(max): 53 mm
Thickness(max): 21 mm

N82 is lighter, much thinner, fair bit longer, and a bit thinner width ways.

For me, the N82 has all the things the upcoming phones doesnt -

5MP camera
Xenon flash
GPS
Wifi

NONE of the upcoming phones have all of that, so you either have to make a compromise if you want an FP2 phone, or stick with the N82, which apart from the keypad, I feel they have done a very good job on.

I want FP2 though, and they crippled the navigator with crap RAM so its the 6220classic for me. Would be tempted by an N82 though, especially when released in black.

Yeah, I'd love to get the 6220, but I really depend on wifi.

Despite being obsolete out of the box, I will still be getting the black N82.
