I was watching something in which they used an accelerometer (probably different to the one in the N95) to measure the G force in the rocket in which it was placed. I was wondering since the lightsaber application somehow uses the accelerometer to measure speed or force or something when you change the sensitivity level. When set at maximum, it only reacts when you swing it so hard that you could kill someone if the phone slipped out of your hand. So... maybe someone who really knows what they're doing when it comes to writing these apps could maybe, just maybe create an app that utilizes the accelerometer to its fullest to measure the G forces in the phone, even if its not totally precise, it would still be amazing.
Just thought I'd throw that out there. |

there's something that's relative to what you describe. It's called an acceleration counter or something like that.

I'm hoping someone writes an app that will do 1/4 mile times and 0-60 times using the accelerometer. The G-Tech Pro uses a 3-axis accelerometer to do it, so in theory, the N95 should be able too.

Unfortunately, using GPS as an acceleration timer is woefully inaccurate. Thanks for the links though :) I'm a bit nervous about trying the 'Car Meter' as it's written for the Nokia 5500. Might install it though and give it a try. It doesn't measure times though, only G-forces. Shame.

I like the Car Meter, does both acceleration and tilt.
It's not so accurate on the acceleration, but good for showing to friends. The over tilt protection when going off-road is priceless as the Mitsi Pajero had got tilt meters but no warning sound when you're reaching the limit. The only other thing i'd want is to be able to adjust the tilt angle the warning comes on, can't find the settings. Great app. |

the app installed after i changed the date, thanks... but...
On the N95-3 it seems to ignore the accelerometer plug-in and doesn't sense anything.
