MP3 limit?

Hi again,

I'm wondering how many MP3s is the realistic limit to keep on your Memory Card before it starts causing problems with the software. I am aware that on first boot it will take a long while to find all the songs, but after that if you put, say 1000 on a memory card, will you experience issues if you are running from playlists of about 100 each and not using the "Play all" function?

Will this many songs mean everything runs slow? I'm wanting to put plenty of music, some audiobooks and some learn Spanish tracks on there when my new 8GB Sandisk arrives.

Will I need to re-find the songs every time I stupidly let it run out of batteries?

EDIT: Phone details:
V 21.0.016
14-02-08
RM-159
Nokia N95 (42.01).

I've had like 700 MP3's on mine before. Its never caused a problem except for in the list when applying a song to a contact for example. If there are too many on the card, the list doesn't load any of them.

I have 350 mp3's and they ain't even taking up 1Gb. Only problem I have is choosing a ringtone, really wish there was a search feature. I know you can pick your normal ring from Music Player but message tones can't be set from there!

Over 4500 songs on mine with no problems. Well, except for the ringtone list being empty.

But that's easily solved by copying the songs you want to set as ringtones from memory card to phone memory, then removing the memory card before you assign the tones.

And if you have an 8gb then connect the phone to a computer in data transfer mode, as it has the same effect as removing the memory card.

I like music, lots of music.

Good stuff gordonshowers I use the standard tones because everybody else changes theres now, I had encounted this issue but was not a real problem so i didn't find a solution, I have an 8Gb and I can just connect my phone in "Data Tranfer Mode" to achive the same effect. How ever I found 4 and a half days of music to be a bit excessive, I did not experiance any major slow down even with the entire lot in one play list, first discover and loading play list took 2-3 mins each but is understanble considering I can only transfer about 500kb/s from the onboard storage card.

hey I really like the stff I read on this thread, because I plan on loading my N95 with loads of mp3s,I have about a GB's worth on now,not nearly enough,hee-hee.

But I like the fact that my little baby won't slow down a bit because of 'the load'.
