Question microSDHC Manufacturer ID ?

Hi All,

I have a 16GB microSDHC card that I bought on ebay that is supposedly a Toshiba. Is there anyway I can verify that? Using "PhoNetInfo" I could read the following info from the card:

MID: 2 <----Manufacturer ID
OID: TM <----OEM/Application ID
PNM: SD16G <---Product name
PRV: 4.1 <----Product Revision
PSN: (10 digits) <----Serial number
MDT: 2/2009 <---Manufactured date

Can anyone confirm or deny this is a Toshiba? Is there some database somewhere that lists this kind of info? I Googled a bit but couldn't find anything.
Thanks.

Lots of painful experience has taught us that the only brand worth considering is Sandisk. Anyway, the details for my Sandisk card show

OID: SD (which I would guess means Sandisk)

It is likely that TM in your case would stand for Toshiba Memory/Mobile, etc., feel free to guess.

Could be. But I just found the product name for the 16GB microSDHC from Toshiba is SD-C16G which does not match the SD16G name I see under PNM, so I'm a little skeptical. Maybe "TM" is Transcend? Hmm...

...anyway, yea, I learned my lesson not to buy memory (or anything phone related) on ebay. And as I see San Disk is higly reccomended here, I'll go with them next time probably as well...live and learn... ;-)

Transcend is TS, not TM, so it looks like a Tosh to me.

[QUOTE=RadioRaiders;217623]...it actually is a Toshiba...

Toshiba and SanDisk work closely together, share equipment and technology. So you're probably OK. But I once had a Toshiba SD that the back fell off of, and was no longer recognizable in phone or PC. So I broke it down farther to see its guts:

The large chip probably has the 1GB memory wafer, and the smaller one is a data transfer controller. SDHC cards have no controller, rely on host device firmware (so transfers can go faster and leaving room in form factor for more memory).

I have now a Nokia 8GB microSDHC card with the following:

OID: SM
PNM: 00000
PRV: 1.0
PSN: 2972959676
MDT: 7/2009

Who makes the cards for Nokia? ie: what manufacturer is "SM"?

Though I have no hard evidence, it sort of smells like Samsung.
