I tried bluetooth but the volume is WAY too low for me. The only headphones that give a reasonable volume are sennheisers. I wonder if there will bw a software mod to boost volume. I note that the graphic equaliser does not increase volume which is rather odd.

I have three sets of Bluetooth Headphones, each has advantages and disadvantages. I will give a mini-review of each:
1) Nokia BH-604 - These are the best headphones overall in my opinion. They are fairly light, have excellent sound and work perfectly with my N95-8GB. The controls are also easy to use but be careful not to touch them when you remove the headphones. Using them to receive phone calls is straightforward and the clarity to both speaker and recipient is good. The phones fold-over so they can fit into a suitcase or brief case for carrying. My two complaints are: 1) There is no way to connect them with a wire if you need to (as on an airplane) and 2) they come with a pouch rather than a protective case for carrying. However, I would recommend them as a first choice. 2) Jabra BT-8030 - These phones also have very good sound although they emphasize the bass end of the spectrum more than the Nokia BH-604s - not a problem if you primarily listen to rock but less good for other genres. They can also kick out a lot of volume very easily when in headphone mode. The big advantage of the BT-8030s is that they can convert to speakers with a push of a couple of buttons. When one pushes the buttons the volume adjusts automatically. The sound as speakers is less impressive than it is as headphones but still quite adequate. The BT-8030 also has a decent carrying case and a USB cable for connection to a computer but not a standard 1/8 in phone plug and cord. The major disadvantages are size and weight. They also seem a little sensitive to interference such can occur when you are using your computer. Occasionally, I will move the mouse on my home computer and the phones will "drop" the connection briefly. However, this doesn't seem to be a general problem. Finally, the control buttons are small and take some getting used to. However, once you have done so they work fine. I would recommend the BT-8030 over the BH-604 if you want a set of headphones that can instantly convert to speakers. Otherwise go with the BH-604. 3) iLuv212 - These are in a different category than the other headphones. They are paired ear clips that function as a miniature headset. Their sound is not at the same level of the other two headsets but surprisingly good given their small size. They also seem to work fine when you are making or receiving a call. Their primary advantage is their size and light weight. They are perfect for a walk in the park or along the boulevard. The disadvantages are 1) The controls are small (of course so are the phones) and 2) they come without a carrying case or AC charger. They do include a USB charging cable however which is OK as long as you have access to a computer with a USB port. I would recommend the iLuV212 primarily as something you wear in lieu of a standard Bluetooth mono-headset. Last edited by JmcSweeny; 07-20-2008 at 07:04 PM. |

Voyager 855
I also have the Plantronics Voyager 855 and I love them. Initially I had a hard time with the ear buds and none would fit, but I replace the ear gel they provided with tri-fold ear gel from my Shure E4c. They don't fit easily but if you try carefully it will fit. Once I replace the ear gel, it is actually really good. Not as good as my Shure, but I'm happy to rock it.

The loudest headset and have excellent sound that there is around is the SONY ERICSSON HBH-DS970,and have a very heavy bass but the only problem is that it looses signal from 1-2 meaters!
I never thought that the N95 could play this loud and clear music! |

I have a set of S9s (see above). They have a great sound and work well the majority of times. There are some issues with range however. For some reason they work fine indoors but as soon as you go into the great outdoors the range cuts down. I get round this by putting my handset in my back pocket which isn't ideal. I predominately use them in the gym, and they work well with a good depth of sound. Now I tend to get a bit of a sweat on and they have dealt with that quite well, but they did have a wobble once when I got very hot (sorry if you're eating). For some reason they decided to ring the missus who ended up with me breathing heavily down the phone to her; not an entirely bad experience she tells me. Then I couldn't ramp the volume back up when playing music. Once they'd dried out and cooled down they were right as rain and haven't messed up since.
All I need now is an arm band thingy for when I'm running...... any ideas? Sev Happy to answer questions about these. |

I'm considering a bluetooth headset, but one thing that concerns me, which I haven't seen much mention of here, is battery life. I use my N96 for music and podcasts during my commute (an hour each way) and then all day at work. I have enough trouble keeping the phone charged, having to charge the headset more than once a day would be a real pain. Also, I find bud-type earphones extremely uncomfortable (I currently use a pair of Logitech Clearchat behind the head wired headphones) so that rules options like the S9s.
I'm not even that concerned about stereo to be honest, as long as I can get comfortable headphones (as close to the logitechs as possible) that won't need charging more than daily and won't cost the earth I'd be happy. Any suggestions? |

Try searching this section of the forums, I've posted a number of times on this issue (I've owned or trialled many, many A2DP headsets) and my posts may be of some help. Sorry, don't have enough time to reproduce all my posts here...

I did do a search and went through a couple of these threads, and battery life just didn't ever seem to be a major element of the discussion which is why I've asked, I'll have another look though.
