Sony DR-BT50

Hi Armand,

I've had my Sony DR-BT50 for about 2 months now, and I cannot fault these headphones. They are awesome! Very comfortable, have plenty of features and best of all only have be charged every two weeks (17 hours of use per charge). They also have a 10m range which is very handy if you are wandering around a room.

I bought mine from ASK Direct in Tottenham Court Road in London for £104.

And if you are wondering if they are bulky on your head, the answer is NO!

Here are the specifications for the headphones:

Headphone
Type: Airtightness dynamic type
Driver unit: Aperture 40mm
Playback frequency zone: 10-25,000Hz
Transmission band: (A2DP)(44.1KHz sampling): 20-20,000Hz
Remote control function: Playback, halt, stop, tune sending and resetting, +/- (only WLA-NWB1 correspondence)
Electric source: DC 3.7V
Charge time: 2.5 hours
Electric battery duration: 17 hours

Microphone
Type: Electret condenser type
Directional characteristics: All directivity
Effective frequency zone: 100-4,000Hz

Bluetooth
Communication method: Bluetooth standard Ver.2.0
Output: Bluetooth standard POWER Class 2
Maximum communication range: 10m
Use frequency zone: 2.4GHz band(2.4000-2.4835GHz)
# Corresponding Bluetooth profile: A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile)

The BT50's are good, but no better than the S805's (pretty much equivalent specs). The S805's are available for around a third the cost though.

I tried out the Sony BT50's today. The bass was great and the volume good but the treble didn't sound great. I could certainly tell the difference between these and my wired Sennheiser 595's. Also the build is a bit flimsy - I could see myself breaking the plastic can holder/swivels quite easily. A little bulky too IMHO - you won't be wearing these down then catwalk.

I'd like to try out the Philips SHB610x headphones but nowhere physically seems to sell them - all mail order. They look nicer but the headband isn't foldable so they are probably not as portable as the the Sony's.

The Nokia BH501's didn't get very good sound quality reviews.

Anybody got the Philips 6102's and can give a quick review?

Flimsy - Definitely not!

Nothing wrong with the build of the DR-BT50. I have them in my bag everyday and they are fine. Their whole design is to protect them when not in use, so if you somehow break them, then it is because you are clumsy!!!

Nothing wrong with the treble or bass on the headphones. I listen to all kinds of music, classical, rock, pop, etc, and the sound is just brilliant. Sometimes I forget they are wireless.

Cheap headphones always cost you in the end. Read the reviews for these headphones, they are worth every penny.

The S805's are also very good at a much cheaper cost, I'd try both before making a decision. I doubt the Sony's sound quality is any better than the S805's.

I have the Philips SHB 6102. Just received them last night, so haven't really used them yet. But music quality seems very good. If you have any questions i'll do mybest to answer them.
