Risky N95 Photography?

No not risque!

Took this this morning on Macro Mode.

An Adder (Male) in striking position. Fortunately the cool weather meant he wasn't very quick and he slid off hissing at me after I took the photo.

Vic, you have bigger male organs than me for doing that pal.

Brilliant picture though. Looks awesome, are they deadly when they strike if you get hit ?

I noticed your location is Essex, where was this image taken?

It's in Danbury in Essex, National Trust reserve, a place quite highly populated with Adders. Last year I shot these with my SLR

I prefer to shoot from a distance to avoid disturbing them too much but they soon let you know when you're not wanted!

p.s males are darker than females. Their Bite can be quite nasty but only deadly if you've a particular allergic reaction to them. You'd have to be pretty stupid to get bitten by one though, they deserve respect and protection.

I can remember being on a MOD Training area in north Kent a couple of years back while on a weekend camp with Cadets and the whole training area is populated with adders, its quite scary when doing a night exercise, hiding in the bushes and you feel one go over your legs.
