They're not bad if direct light isn't hitting the lens. Otherwise it looks like that plastic cover is smudged with fingerprints. Everything is kinda hazy. Night shots are impossible.

I'm kinda bummed out about it.

I bet you are. I would be too. Luckily, I have mine in a leather case which kind of gives it some protection due to a deep recess.

While I agree with you guy's that it was stupid of Nokia not to provide better protection for the lens cover on the N95 8GB, it is easy to replace this cover, & they are not too expensive.
Simply remove the back cover, put your fingertip under the edge of the camera cover & gently prise it up. it is only stuck on. The replacement comes with an adhesive pad already attached. Just remove the protective backing & stick it in place. There are guide pins on the phone so you can't go wrong.
