Web browser does not start
Hello all,
Hopefully I am in the right forum here.
I have searched the Internet high and low and could not find any possible resolutions to my problem.
1. I have a firmware that starts with 10.00 ... RM159.
2. I have established WIFI connection to my home network and I know it works because "search" and other programs that need the connection work just fine.
3. Whenever I try to open either of these
Web
in the "main menu"
or
"Start Web browsing"
from the main screen (after selecting the "network xxx found" icon,
a second later the phone comes back to the spot from which the option was activated.
Basically, I cannot start web browser in any of the ways that I can think of. For example, I received an SMS twith a download link for the Fring program, but after selecting "open link" from the message, a second later the phone comes back to the message text.
What else can I try?
What could the problem be?
Sorry for such a long post but I hope I provided enough information for someone to be able to help me out.
Thanks so much for any help.
Best,
Vic

Have you tried to install Opera for Mobile? You can easily download this from Opera's website and use it on a 30 day trial basis. I use both the Nokia browser that came with the phone and the opera browser, depending on what I'm looking at online..the Opera has a feature or 2 the Nokia browser is missing

First thing I would do in your case is update to the latest FW, using nokias program (which is free).
Then try it again and post your results

Browser wont start
I have this problem since downloading fring. I suspect that either its a virus or fring is miss-behaving. I have un-installed fring and reset all defaults but nothing works. Going to try Opera as a work around. Have you or anyone else managed to resolve the broken browser issue?
Is there a way of reloading the browser?

Fring broke my phone
I have the latest version of the firmware - It was installed last week before FRING f&^$ up my phone. I cant use opera because the install process needs to go out onto the internet and my WiFi provider presents a login screen that I cant fill in without a browser - catch 22. I really need to reload the original browser but would prefer not to lose my settings - again. Does anyone know a way of doing this?

Using Opera is not a solution for having a phone that is not working properly. you will still have a corrupted phone and just be temporarily masking the problem.
I'm afraid that if you have problems like this with any of the N95's functions the only proper solution is to do a full format of the phone *#7370#. You can try a reset of the phone settings first; *#7870#.
A firmware upgrade will do this for you.
Don't forget to back up your contacts, messaages, calendar and gallery first.
Don't try and restore settings from one version of firmware to another.
If you restore settings after a reset but without doing a firmware upgrade you risk restoring what was causing the problem in the first place.

Thanks for that. It now works. For future reference, the symptoms included a complete loss of IP capability. IE the phone could not even send a picture attachment to an txt. Im not sure if it was a problem with Fring or a virus contained in the Fring download. I had previously installed fring but the problem occured after I re-installed it with skype capability.
