Internet calls

Hi all,

Im very confused with all this talk of free calls via viop on my N95, i am with orange and bravely debranded it to the new V20 software - i have read the many guides on the internet and the one on the Nokia tips at the top of this page and am still confused!!

I regularly travel to Europe and end up coming home with a hefty phone bill, and im going to the USA for a holiday soon, in both cases i will have access to FREE wi-fi, how do i go about getting cheaper calls to and from these countries:

do i need to have a PC with me at all times to make calls or do i just install it onto my home PC to create an account then it logs in automatically when i select internet call via my wifi?

Which would be the best and easiest service to use, i understand that i have to put money into my account to make calls but at the cheap prices ive been hearing this sounds like an excellent thing and cold reduce my phone bill.

Sorry for the long post but i really have tried to sort it out without having to ask stupid questions on here

Thanks

I used the guide from this thread : http://www.n95users.com/forum/genera...-n95-tips.html

Used VOIPcheap and it works very well on WiFi, come in very useful so far for free calls to Hong Kong, and Dubai (well, cheaper than Vodafone would be anyway) although I did try earlier to call over 3G , but got disconnected a few times, even though I had excellent reception.

Will definetely make use of this when abroad, should save me a fair whack on roaming charges I'm sure .

I found that VOIPCheap was incompatible with two different wireless routers that I tried, TruPhone however, was a breeze to install, works like a dream, integrates with the contacts-list, has excellent speech-quality and has saved me a small fortune in call-charges over the past few months...

Moreover, their customer service response, (I needed to change my username), was fast and efficient

truphone is the best app i've tried... just don't work with my t-mo... but if you're going to use it with wifi or 3g then this app is recommended. :)

I haven't found a way to achieve this without using 'disable Truphone' from within the app itself.

When you wish to use it, you will have to enable it again (you will be prompted on starting the app).
