VoIP configuration - only half works
I'm trying to configure the internal SIP client but I've only got it half working: I can register with my provider and I can receive incoming calls, but outgoing calls fail.
My provider is a small, generic, SIP provider named Unlimitel. Below is my SIP configuration. Does this all look right? The fact that I can register and get incoming calls, but not outgoing - what should this tell me about my configuration? Profile name: Unlimitel Service Profile: IETF Default AP: <my SSID> Public user name: sip:<my account #>@unlimitel.ca Use Compression: No Registration: Always on. Use Security: No proxy server addr: sip:sip02.unlimitel.ca realm: unlimitel.ca (I also tried sip02.unlimitel.ca). username: <my account #> password: <my password > allow loose routing: yes transport type: auto port: 5060 registrar server: sip:sip02.unlimitel.ca realm: sip02.unlimitel.ca username: <my account #> password: <my password > |

Try UDP on the transport type. Have you tried outgoing calling using more than one router?

I started with Fring. I found it quite easy to use for Skype and for Gizmo. I only tried Gizmo out because they had technical problems setting up my Gizmo in phone number (they still haven't returned my money).
I eventually gave up on Gizmo, and decided to stop using Fring because it seemed to run my battery down too quickly. Also, I prefer to use a generic SIP provider rather then Skype, so I figured it would be better to get the internal SIP client working rather then running Fring just to do SIP. So I've stopped using Fring, but I must admit that it was pretty easy to setup and use for something that supported so many providers. |

don't forget to get the Nokia SIP settings application - I found on Google at
http://sw.nokia.com/id/d2d27e6c-bd52...gs_v1_0_en.zip I had to force my profile to use g.729 before mine would work with PennyTel. We have a discussion on this going on over at Nokia N95 Voip on PennyTel - PennyTel - Voice over IP - Whirlpool Broadband Forums |
