How do I stop "Mass memory in use by..." ??

[SOLVED see below]

I come across this error message often, most times whatever it was that was hogging the memory will stop on its own or I just power off the phone as a last resort.

Now I am stuck, I am getting "mass memory in use by messaging app" but I can't figure out how to stop it from using it or change the memory type it is using. I've gone through all the settings of Messaging but I can't see where it shows how to change what memory Messaging uses.

All I want to do is get it to stop! I've been searching forums for the last four hours but I'm going in circles.

I use Linux and I just want to move a video I made, I wanted to see if I could see it in the phone's folders and move it since e-mailing it will take a long time and there doesn't seem to be any other way to get it out of the phone.

[SOLVED]

Did you move your Message Inbox from Phone memory to Mass Memory/Memory Card? That is normally what causes this error.
BTW: An easy way to communicate with a Linux box is ftp. I have Sic ftp client installed on my N95 (it's free) and use it to access my File Server over Wlan. It gives you about 500kByte/sec, fast enough to send and retrieve music or videos.

Bush's face takes a grim look and he replies "OK, thanks". Then he starts to cry. Cheney is really puzzled and he asks Bush: "Why do you cry over two Brazilian soldiers?"
Bush looks up to him, still crying and asks: "Dick, do you know how many thousand two Brazilian are? I forgot to ask the general."

Whatever memory Messaging uses by default, I don't think I moved it but then again I've been through every option and setting in the phone probably a hundred times. I'll look again to see where that is and if it is using Mass Memory I'll move it, if it could be changed I probably did since to me using the 8GB seems to make more sense than the smaller capacity Phone Memory.

What I don't get is why this is a problem, if the 8GB is built in why is there so much trouble when it's in use, you can't remove it so really it's not like an SD card that could be removed while being written to. It's frustrating. Why Nokia? *shakes fist in air*

What is the name of the FTP app you use casketizer? I'd be comfortable using an FTP app over wifi to transfer files to and from my phone. I'm not sure what the IP of my N95 is on my LAN although I can probably guess it's one more than my desktop system's IP, if it's connected. Although before any of that I'll have to figure this Mass Memory in use problem.

try installing a process explorer on the phone, something like Jbak Taskman (free) or Handy Taskman(shareware) for the s60v3, just google for the softwares. Using Jabak taskman, you can see which process/apps are running...you can use it close down the app/process...

more on the Jbak Taskman at the Symibian-Guru link S60 Task Manager Replacement Shootout

Hope this helps

I may do that but for now I found the setting it was in the Message main menu Options > Settings > Other > Memory in use > Mass memory or Phone memory , I changed it to Phone memory and it's OK now, I must have overlooked that section each time I tried to find it.

Thanks for the suggestions though everyone.
