Internet connection via bluetooth

Hi all,

First post, so hello everyone....

I've got my N95 working through a wireless connection at home, but would like to set it up through bluetooth in the office.

Can it connect with bluetooth to the internet? IE surf on the N95 connected via bluetooth to the internet through a desktop pc?

Thanks
Shaun

Welcome Shaun. Nope, that can't be done. The reverse can though: PC - bluetooth - N95 - internet.

Also, why would you want to use the internet on a mobile phone without a keyboard or a large screen when you have a desktop PC within 10 meters (since that's the range on bluetooth)?

Doh!

It was more for updates, and downloads etc... And I'm a software developer, would be quite nice to see my apps (flash mainly) running on the phone without using the operators network, or having to copy them over all the time.

Anyone tried this with an N95?

I agree, would be nice by USB cable, this WLAN is starting to frustrate me, I just want to update my podcasts and go.

Shaun,
I would add a WiFi access point at your PC and use for a switch, so you pc still gets Internet, and allows you to connect WiFi there too. There are a few apps floating around that are supposed to convert bluetooth to Internet, you have one posted above and I do not knwo where I saw another, but if you are going to try them get them from a reputable source. THERE IS malware that will destroy your phone. Avoid the torrents and wares sites. For what they charge for these apps it is not even worth the risk to your phone. BT is pretty slow anyway. You can pick up a WiFi router for under 40 bucks if you look around and your speed will blow away the BT connection. The tiime you will spend and the cost of the app will be much more expensive. My 2¢

BTW, welcome to the site. Your link above is very interesting. Keep in mind that the latest firmware did add some additional security measures and some applications that would run before do not run now. That did not install for me. I wanted to play around with it. :)
