TV-output to in-car LCD

I'd guess, as the size of the N95 screen is so relatively small, that
having to peek at it when either it rings, or when youre using the GPS
to get somewhere when driving, is a pain in the backside, attaching
an external LCD display would be ever so handy

My question is..

If I hooked up a 9 inch LCD monitor to the N-95's TV output, do I just
get a supersized version of the N95's own display?

Yes, I've used my N95 as a dummy for a mate with a flip out LCD.

We connected it up with TV Out cable to his 9" LCD in car Cd /dvd player.

GPS was brilliant on it, full screen. Also great for playing music and watching films which were played to tv back headrests.

When you plug your phone into a TV can you disable the phone screen? Never noticed anything in the manual?

Would be handy, mount your phone on the windscreen where you can access the keys easily, but have it stealth rigged up to a lcd for the gps...

The output is both screens at once AFAIK, with no way to disable. Bit of a battery killer unfortunately, and some might say a distraction as well in this particular scenario. But it does work really well!

I've used it on my LCD TV, its good with rotateme, saves you faffing about with a narrow screen, instant wide screen. Just a shame you can't get the phone display to switch off, or at the very least switch off the backlight!

This sounds greate , I have not think that you can use N95 to the DVD-player in . This I must test tomorrow

if you enable tv-out and the phone is not charging the screen of the phone will drop to screensaver and the back light will go off and the tv out stays on. I have it connected to my 7" lcd and it is great especially with the dashboard of the garmin XT or Tomtom.

True, but running it like that kills the battery by the time you've watched a movie, and that's on a full charge!
