Wifi Connection

I have a free account with my broadband provider which gives me free hot spots around the city.The problem I have is when i use wlan it finds the provider and tries to connect and after a few minutes it disconnects.I have a password etc. but no screen comes up to enter it.I have been asked by provider to set my ssid settings to there name ,can anyone enlighten me as to how this is done.
