Post The UK Nokia N900 - Will it Ship this week?


As most of you know by now, the shipping date of the Nokia N900, the Maemo 5 device everyone is waiting for keeps being put back, and delayed, this in turn is not only frustrating, but I have even started to see via twitter, that Nokia are starting to lose customers over these delays, with quite a few pre-orders being cancelled. I really hope Nokia learn from this, as its starting to turn out as an expensive loss in sales for them. But what is holding up the shipping one may ask?


One can moan, and complain until the cows come home though, and the well known saying, you cannot please everyone, all of the time. What would you, as a pre-orderer of the N900 prefer? An early release of a device as bug ridden as the N97 was? Or would you prefer to wait that little bit longer, which will ensure the N900 when it reaches you, is complete, and most bugs ironed out?

Yes it was some time ago I preorder the N900 but the software 1.1 to N900 is supposed to be finished sometime in week 49 in Sweden ,
but then it can of course take a week or so before the time at stores in Sweden, according to Nokia's product manager.

The mini I have preorder to my girlfriend.

Yes it can be smart keep the N97 and see how the N900 preforms when it hit the stores,
and I dont belive it take so many months before the next maemo device been show.

no,no, NO!

why should there be a compromise? (always on the side of the end user)

people expect a product to have been thoroughly tested.
people expect a fully working product.
people expect it to be delivered on time, as promised.

none of this "yes it is a month late but we probably, very nearly but not quite got rid of the major bugs".

FAIL.

Sorry Micky but some of us recognise a 'Damage Limitation Excercise' when we see one!

Nokia, by these incessant delays, have annoyed a lot of would-be customers for the N900 and shouldn't be surprised that some have cancelled their pre-orders and bought an alternative in frustration.
