Forgot my password...how screwed am I?
Hey all,
This is fairly silly, but, first off let me assure all that I am in fact the owner of this unit (check previous newbie posts of mine) and not trying to crack someones phone. Here we go... Coming home on the train, I decide to change my 'phone' lock code. I enter the old one, enter and re-enter the new one and then promptly forgot it!! or mixed up what the new one is!! This is day 3 of multiple (like maybe a 1000) attempts. I have tried everything I can possibly think of and appreciate this is my fault...but I cannot remember!! What options do I have here....as there are some videos on the phone that I have not saved yet and would hate to blow it up and start over.

Just shut your eyes and visualise your hands and what they were doing as you types in the code.

Appreciate that....but ...Yeah...tried that. I was listening to music when I did it and I heard a pause on the key tones (over the music) when I entered and re-entered the new code. Not sure what that indicates. What a nightmare : (

And i'm guessing you've tried listening to the same song again, with the phone in your hands?
What new things have you got in your life lately that you may have used for your password? |

Can't get back into the phone to re-create the moment. What is not fair is the fact that I think I remember what I used and its just not that password! Been trying like crazy...so strange

Is this the security PIN that you must put in after rebooting the phone? Or a PIN on the memory card?
In OZ we only get 3 attempts at the Security PIN and then the SIM locks up and we have to ring our service provider to a 'PUK' (Personal Unlocking Kode) and that gets us straight into the phone and able to set a new PIN immediately. Have you called your provider to see if it registered in their system? |

You could try a hard reset: Power off phone. Press and hold Green, * and 3 and keep them held whilst powering on and for a few seconds after, if kept pressed this formats without asking for Security Code confirmation.
Otherwise it probably won't work, but you could try reflashing with NSU... |

even reflashing your phone will not reset the lock code, plus you need to get into the phone to set it to PCSuite mode .
Best bet is try your local service centre |

Yeah I'm thinking a reflash mate! But what code are you talking about????
Check the nokia website, you may have a nearby carphone warehouse nokia care point
