Question Changing language on N95 8GB to a language not available in Options?

Just wondering if its possible to change the language in an N95 8GB thats originally from the UK to the Finnish language?

Anyone know if this is possible?

Basically, I purchased the phone in the UK, and came locked to Vodafone, but have since had it unlocked by Vodafone themselves. I now need to try and change the language to Finnish so to sell it local. Is this possible without voiding the warranty.?

    Any help, or advice appreciated.

Current available languages via language options are, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese(sp).

You will need to change the product code to one that has Finnish available AFAIK, and then reflash.

Don't think you can just download a language pack.

Tried that, but just says retry, or cancel No option to Reflash/Reinstall.

    What about using NSS?

This will work, unless, the product code you were using previously has a higher firmware version than the EURO3 code.

I really doubt this will be the case with yours though.

The above was because I changed the prodct code to EURo3, like a numpty, I should of changed it to 0550372 - SCANDINAVIA, which has the Finnish language.

So, here goes, will change product code again, and try once more.!

    Phone was on charge Steve.

Right then. I know that I cannot restore my back up because I changed languages, and therefore cannot play Spiderman 3, however, I have just searched, and navigated my way to the backup original files, and found the Data Base File (.db) which is named as the IMEI number of the phone. Other files there are contacts, calendar, and bookmarks etc.

Question is now, can i send this file to the phone, and then be able to play Spiderman.?

    Million Dollar question.

Ok, managed to get a DVDRip of Spiderman 3, and currently converting it for the phone.

Would any Mods have any objection if I upload it, and post it in "Downloads" so others can replace their lost Spiderman 3 film due to change of product code, or not backing up prior to firmware update?

Let me know here, or by pm.

    Thanks

    Micky

I wouldn't think that would be a good idea mate,Nokia obviously had permission to distribute it on their handsets but i don't think that would include us.

Hi - thanks for an informative thread !
I am about to try to change my product code to the very same but have SMS, pictures and videos (taken by the phone) that I do not want to lose. Will I lose them if I change product code with NSS?

Many thanks for your eternal help on these pages.

    Cheeeeeers
