I found that running Vista limited the free DVD Ripping software available, and have so far found Acala DVD to be the best DVD Ripping software so far.
Acala Software Inc, DVD Copy, DVD Ripper, iPod movie video program, psp movie video program...

i know a program called Blaze Media Pro has a dvd ripping feature in, i use this for all my file conversions etc.... it's fast and gets things down to a good size, however, the dvd wasn't loading for me, it said i had an error with my drive. but it may be worth you checking it out.
even if it don't work for the DVD's it's very good for other stuff.
also i've heard good things about Virtual Dub. may also be worth checking out!

SB if I remember correctly the largest vob file is the one you want.
The others are the extra scenes etc from the dvd.

Since you're using DVD Shrink, in future, if you select re-author, you can tell it to only rip the main movie, and leave all the other crap behind.

you can turn to this dvd ripper program for help.
it will let you directly rip the DVD to the format accepted by N95 (3GP).

Totally simple to put a movie on your N95
1) Put the DVD in your PC.
2) Run up DVDFab
3) Select ‘Main Movie’ (so you only get just the film if you want)
4) Select to ‘Cell Phone’
That’s about it – It produces an MP4 file.
Copy this to your phone – done.

hi i used dvdfab to,but the file size is about 600mb on 2 hour film, is that about right ? i then used nokia video manager and it made it 276mb.
do you just drag the 600mb file to mem card without using the nokia manager ?

Not to hijack the thread....but what do ppl use as the quickest/best/easiest solution for ripping DVDs to the N95 using a Mac instead of a PC??? I have MacTheRipper which I use, but this does an uncompressed rip and leaves me with Video_TS and Audio_TS files.
Also, mp4 is the format we want, right?

What type of DVD are you trying to rip?, if it has copyright protection you'll need a program called AnyDVD running in the background, this fools the PC to let you to rip it.
There are lots of programs to rip DVD's into .avi files, i use ImToo DVD ripper 4 and WinAVI, these are great.
But if you use DVD Shrink you will get a folder called video_ts with loads of .vob and .bup files, these are DVD files, the whole folder then has to be converted to .avi or DivX using WinAVI.
After converting your .avi file it should be about 600-800mb in memory, and i've found that if the screen size is 320x240 it will play very smoothly on the n95.
