Red face N95-2 Operator Logo Issue

Hello Everyone, this is my first post so forgive me if it's in the wrong place. I found this site whilst googling for some answers to my trivial issue.

I have just purchased an Unlocked N95-2 that is a "3" mobile handset. I have de-branded it using the instructions and software freely available on the web and now have the latest Nokia firmware installed (15.0.015) but none of the "3" mobile menus anymore.

It is working fine and I am very pleased with it but I have one slight problem that is now becoming a big challenge to resolve! I am on the "Virgin Mobile" network which does piggy back off the T-Mobile network here in the UK. My phone constantly displays the T-Mobile operator logo even though Virgin Mobile have sent me a new 3G sim card and numerous data messages to update the logo. This morning I even tried the instructions for removing the logo altogether as posted by "hairilabubakar" here:-

http://www.n95users.com/forum/downlo...ator-logo.html

This process worked to the point of saving the blank logo but still made no difference.
I also did not have the option in the "Standby" menu to switch the operator logo on/off so I removed the sim and powered up the phone in "offline" mode then re-installed the blank logo this now gives me the operator logo option in the standby display but it makes no difference if I switch the logo on or off it still says T-Mobile, it's as though whatever part of the phones software is accessed to change this has been locked down or something.

I've spoken to Nokia support and they have recommended that I get it re-flashed at one of their service centres. I am willing to do this as the phone is legitimate and was purchased from a phone seller via their Ebay shop so I have no concerns taking it to a service centre if necessary but I was hoping that someone out there with some excellent technical know how may be able to help me.

I would welcome any suggestions or help and look forward to hearing from anyone who can help me.

Many Thanks

N95-2 Operator Logo Issue

Hi, Using the "united Kingdom" chart on the Wikipedia site your thread links to I tried the following codes:-

234 31 Virgin Operational GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / UMTS 2100
234 32 Virgin Operational GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / UMTS 2100

The first code 234/31 worked in so far as I got a text message with the blank logo but after this failed to remove the operator logo I tried the whole process again and used the second codes 234/32 but this time I didn't even get a text message to the phone.

Then I decided to post on this site as I have kind hit a brick wall and cannot see what to do next (other than get the phone re-flashed).

Thanks

Yes have tried re-starting also with no luck. I have discovered though that even though I have de-branded the phone there are still some imbedded settings in the phone from when it was re-programed with the software from "3" which can cause some problems and may possibly also cause the logo issue?

I am going to get the phone re-flashed tomorrow and this should ensure that I remove all of the old settings and reset the phone back to the way it would have been out of the Nokia factory with no operator installed software on it at all.

I'd be happy to let you know how I get on.

Thanks for your help/suggestions.

Regards

No it's just white text on a black background. I retried the alternative codes last night and I got the text message to the phone but again it has made no difference at all. I'm off to have it re-flashed later so hopefully after that I may be able to change or switch off the operator logo.

Thanks for your help your guide you posted on this site was excellent and easy to follow but I guess my phone has some hidden software on it from "3" that a re-brand doesn't remove so hopefully the re-flash will erase any of "3's" software and leave the phone free of any restrictive software.

Once it's done I will look at the guide you just sent me the link for.

Thanks Again

No Luck with the reflash, the service centre can only re-flash the phone to the firmware as installed by "3" which is ver 11.0.something but because I have already updated the software after a rebrand to the latest version they cannot take the phone back to the old version and even if they could it would be no use to me because it would put all the 3 stuff back on which I don't want. So I'm back to square one and to be honest for the hassle and time it's taking me with no obvious successful solution I think I'll leave it as it is the phone is working fine the operator log being incorrect is not really a major big deal it doesn't prevent the phone form working at all. I was advised by the service centre to wait for further firmware updates which may help but for now I'll live with it as it is.
