WLAN problems.

Hello all.

I'm having problems with the wifi. I just can't get it to work.

It's weird cos I can enter my WEP pass ok, and it shows that it's connected but when I goto Web and walk (the browser on the t-mobile n95) it asks what I want to use as a connection - I say the wifi, and then it hangs. About 1min later it says. "web 'n walk - No gateway reply"

is this an issue with t-mobile? can anyone else out there with a t-mobile phone please report that yours is working ok?

Just wondering what I could do about it.

Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Simon

I am finding the same connecting to wifi.

It doesn't seem to like open networks of WEP, but does like WPA2. If I switch my home router to WPA2, my N95 will connect fine.

If I switch the router back to WEP, the N95 sees the network, asks for the WEP key, tries to connect and says could not connect, with a "WLAN not found" error. Very odd, as it listed the WLAN seconds beforehand, detected it was WEP, asked for the WEP key and then failed to connect.

Seems to be a bug to me...

How do we feed this stuff back to Nokia so they can fix?

Humm, maybe I should try a different wifi mode then.
It's weird as it looks like it's connecting fine on mine, but then it looks like it's getting confused with the web and walk stuff.

Any t-mobile users out there got thier wifi to work?

Regards,
Simon

Mine works fine, but I'm using WPA2 as well.

To be fair, WEP is outdated and unsecure, try to move to WPA or WPA2 if you can, i.e. you have no WEP only devices.

Try to connect to the WLAN through the WLAN wizard. IT should then pick it up on the standby screen if WLAN scanning is on. Click it and choose to start browing, it should then open up a browser page. You may also wish to check the browser settings, make sure the setting to always ask which connection to use is on.

do you use t-mobile though? I'm starting to think it's a problem more with their firmware more than anything as it keeps moaning about web and walk.

Huh? I have no such problems. Is your wireless router in "public" mode or has a password to access? I have a wi-fi system in my ofc that can be accessed by anybody (including those outside lol), and in can easily connect my N95 thereto.

Most mobile phone gateways (wap.o2.co.uk etc) will be locked down so there only available to there own GPRS / 3G network. Try canceling the browser and goto another internet URL and you should be fine.

i'm on t-mobile and I can accesss my wlan (in fact i'm posting through it right now). It's rather temperamental though. It'll work fine for ages but then i'll try to access it and i'll get an error telling me that my wpa key is invalid. If i reboot the router it seems to work fine for a couple of hours until i get another error.
