New user / couple of questions

Hi all,

First of all, I've been lurking this forum for about 2 months, only just signed up now, great community!

I received my N95 8GB last week and haven't had that much time to get into it properly! So today I've been playing with it more indepth and I have a couple of questions.

I updated the phone earlier to V15, but I understand that V21 is out, why did it shows 15 as the latest? Does my phone need to be debranded? What are the risks of debranding, and also what does it change on the phone.

Also, before I updated I did a backup using the Nokia Suite, and all was fine, got everything back on the phone ok etc, except all my messages. Does the Backup not include your messages?

V20 is the latest Firmware version for the N95-2, V21 is for N95-1

The reason why the V20 firmware is not showing is more likely down to your network provider not releasing the Branded Firmware for your device.

Who is your Network provider?

I suggest you do a little more searching on here, as all the answers you seek are within these pages.

Note the http://www.n95users.com/forum/genera...95-tips-2.html thread also, which will guide you through upgrading your firmware when it's not allowed by the Nokia Software Updater, which seems to be the case for you.

Be warned though, if you change your product code it may void your warranty.
