Changing product code changes Imei ?

Hi, I had my n95 since august 07, ever since i bought it i`ved noticed a green line on every picture i take (easier to see in dark pictures) indicating a dead pixel.

Now i finnaly got to the store i bougth it from and tried to return it, BUT !

They said the Imei on the reciept didn`t match the Imei on the phone. (not the product code, i changed that back to the original one after debranding (the phone isn`t de branded now))
and they couldn`t find the imei on my phone in their computer systems.

I KNOW i couldn`t have changed phones so the only things i can see has happend was either:

1. The Imei changed when i debranded \ changed product code

2. There was a mixup at the store i bougth it from.

Are there ANNY circumstances that can lead to my Imei could have been changed ?

Anny feedback MUCH apriciated !!

Send a message via AIM to jkoppee
the IMEI should not have ever changed so the store would be in error

Thanks for the quick reply jkoppee ! =)

This was my first reaction too, but the guy in the store allmost said straigth out that there was nothing they could do about it, but they would do some research during this weekend.

If i dont get this on my warranty im going in there first thing monday after work and make a massive scene ...

No n95 this weekend then, so ill get the chance to use my old Nokia 5100 :D .....Retro =)

Check the imei on the sticker under the battery AND on the sticker on the bow it came in. These HAVE TO match. If not, its basicall the factory's fault.

Just to update,
I went in there yesterday and the guy at the counter told me the phone`s Imei was registered to the biggest tv broadcasting company here in Norway ( Tv2 ) and that there probably was a mixup when i bought the phone.

So all good, they`re gonna fix my camera, But honnestly I hope to get a brand new one :)
Now ill just have to get by 14 days without my pocket computer ;P

Thanx again Jkopp and McB !
