Changing product code for adding language support

Hi all, I wonder if I only want to add support of a certain language, say Chinese, to my N95 8GB, is changing produce code through NSS the only way to do it? Is there other way?

My machine is O2-UK version.

Thanks!!

ok as far as I can tell from a quick read through Nokia's forums the language supported is tied to the FW so you would have to change the product code and update to that FW. Maybe someone can come along and give a definite to this

give a quick read through these

It says over here that one can go to Nokia Care point to add a new language pack. So I guess there must be a way other than using NSS. still digging......

I recently changed the language on an N95-2 that I purchased in the UK, but needed Finnish as I sold it here. Changed the Product Code in NSS, then upgraded firmware, and whola.! I have a Jaf box, and leads, but still learning about procedures with it before I try it out.

Yeh, that's what the normal way is. I'm a little concerned that if I change produce code, would the phone loss some ISP provided functions?

So I guess the extra language pack is obtained when the firmware is upgraded, which means if I only change product code but not upgrade, I still don't get the lauguage pack, right?

Thats right. Just changing the product code does not activate additional languages. You would have to upgrade the firmware on the changed product code, which would install the firmware, and languages for that code.

actually there is a way the us service engineers can do it without changing the product code or the firmware version, therefore not invalidating a warranty
