Text message - Time from pressing show to display?

When a new message is receive and you press show (left soft key), how long before the inbox is displayed? Is it more or less instant or does it take a few seconds?

Mine is taking a long time and I don't recall it doing so. Wondering if it has to do with the SMS's I have archived in 'My Folders'?

There is a default delay due to the phone lock process, but shouldn't be too long a delay. Having loads of messages may slow it down a little I guess?

What about when the phone lock is off - is it instant then or still some delay?

let us know if you have a lot of messages stored. my friend had only few messages but it was taking too long to reply and hard reset fixed it. i do have about 500 messages in my inbox right now but it still opens fast.

1300 plus messages but these are in a folder in 'My Folders', not the main inbox. Currently there are only 3 in the inbox.

Edit - Just cleared them all out and still the same.

ok this is the same when pressing the left key for almost anything, when you press the left key it waits a second to see if you are going to press the right key to lock the phone. If it were an instant response when pressing the left key you would never be able to lock the phone.

My inbox is displayed fairly quickly and I have 517 sms stored.

Theres a default 2 seconds delay when pressing the left soft key when phone unlocked. This is in place to give you time to press the right soft key after it to lock the phone.

I see where you are coming from jkoppee & GSi but do yours take about 3 secs to display a new message? Is this normal?

Looks like that may be the only option dayene if it's not normal. Not according to hmartins.
