is it worth it?
hi all,
i been reading through the forum trying to figure out if i SHOULD get the N95 - im due for upgrade soon and i was thinking of geting the N95 but i dont want slowness or crashing.. i used to have the sony ericsson p990i and i hated it!!! so i dont particularly want a phone that will be too much hard work... i dont excessively use my phone but its nice to have an amazing phone like the N95 - but is it slow? id really appreciate some feedback specifically about the general performance of the N95 - and should i wait for the E61i or get the E65? (sorry for confusion and THANK YOU!!) |

If in serious doubt, wait a while.
Ive had the N95 for just over a week and I love the nice features, but Im not sure how many people at work I can advise to get the phone, as Im not really sure yet how well it works as a phone. I play around with the advanced features too much, the great hope is that the small niggles and bugs, and battery life issues, are only a pain if you use the advanced stuff a lot. So for casual users, it will be reliable as a phone, and each user can decide how much to 'push' their device and suffer the few downsides that currently exist. Id sure like to hear from anybody with the phone who has managed to keep away from the fancy stuff, do you ever get resets or out of memory errors or other glitches when only doing mundane stuff? |

Its totally worth it!
The Nokia N95 is a bad boy device. But, for what crowd? Would you recommend your mother go out and buy the latest and greatest Pc with 4GB RAM, an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, a **** hot graphics card with 512MB RAM, etc, when all she wants do is surf the net and write a Word document or two? If the answer is no then why recommend a hardcore multimedia computer N95 to someone who won't use all the features? Same difference to me. The N95 is a phone for power users and enthusiasts, not for the average Joe. My $0.02 Having said that tho, if you can afford it then why the hell not.

Coming from a P990 and a W950 I have got to say they are in different ball parks, speed and stability are not something you can have with UIQ3 at the moment, I have had 1 lockup and no restarts since getting my N95, software is not an issue, memory prices are great, links to the pc without problems and it can be counted on to work.
I will not be going back to Sony Ericsson and happily staying with my N95 :D |

If you're going to use 85% of its functions then yes. If not then no.
Its an incredible design and does what it says on the tin

In my opinion, it is worth every cent. I love the speed, features style. It is not sluggish at all. IMO, this is one of the fastest phone that I have used/seen.

yeah i see what some people are saying how this phone could be seen for 'power-users'
there are so many features packed into this device, and there is a hell of a lot of apps for the s60 platform that can be used... even with that in mind, i think its brilliant to have for 'just a phone', i find the normal features are all very easy to use and reliable too, and its nice to always have a 5MP camera at the ready, really impressive photos, and the video is good, even in low light... and in my view its a very good looking phone, which isnt the most important thing but is better than it being ugly

I agree... I like the styling of the device.
You must have gotten a free, or at least a very good deal on a contract based on the power user comment. There is no other kind of N95 owner in the States. We're all paying in excess of $650 USD for the thing over here- and that's a lot of money for a Northern American to spend on a mobile... we're super cheap that way- except for the power users. For me, it's worth every cent and more.
