Few questions from a new N95 user

Hi there,

Have a few questions that I hope someone can answer.

Apologies if they've been answered already on the forum.

I received my Nokia N95 8GB today on Orange (UK).

This may seem like a stupid question and i'm not even sure I can articulate it properly, but, when the phone is closed, is there a button i can press that will illuminate the screen so I can check if there'a little envelope on the screen letting me know if i have a new text?

When the screensaver appears, there's a little envelope when i get a text. On my previous phone I held one of the side buttons and the screen illumated, without leaving the screensaver.

However, if i press any of the buttons on the N95 the screen leaves the screen saver and goes to the main screen (without illuminating the screen).

That means if i'm in a dark room and my phone is on silent, i wont be able to check if i have a message without sliding the phone open.

Hope i've explained this well enough for someone to understand!

Also, is spiderman 3 not pre-installed in the new 8gb models? I assumed it would be on mine, but it doesn't seem to be.

First off, no it will not illiminate without going back to the screen and you don't actually need to slide it open to unlock it, you just need to press the left soft key then the right soft key (below the screen) and it will unlock and the icon will be at the top of the screen near the battery indicator.

Thanks - but what should i press the left then the right? why both?

Even hitting just the LEFT soft key will illuminate the screen for a second and not unlock the phone

Pressing left THEN right will unlock the keypad.
Pressing just the left will light up the screen for a secong (and ask you to hit the right key)

Bit of a pain cos I don't use a tone for my messages - got into a habit of just lighting the screen and checking if i have a new text every few minutes!

its in a sub folder which is next to the welcome video !
Assuming you bought the phone new and it is a spidey 3 handset (not sure if orange variants are as I haven't picked one up yet).
Pressing the power key will illuminate the screen for 10 -15 seconds without unlocking the keypad
