Using N95 as a modem

Could anyone post step by step directions on using N95 as modem for labtop? I can only use connection via USB as well. I have tried to do this but it always says connection failed. Also, my service provider is Cingular/AT&T in the USA but "Cingular" is not listed on the connection software, so I chose AT&T.

Well since Cingular is now AT&T that wouldn't be abnormal to list just that. Other than that I can't be of much help Haha, sorry.

Go to settings -> access points -> media net -> view details.

Then chose to setup the connection manually in the Nokia Software on your PC/Laptop. Enter the options the phone has there. That worked for me.

Have you tried using PC Suite to help you use your phone as a modem?
I did it that way once when my housemate cut our broadband off.
The download speed was terrible i must add. But that could be my carrier's fault.

yes the speed is rather impressive for a mobile phone, especially since it has HSDPA which gives it advantage over some other mobiles used a modems. I would not recommended using it often as it tends to drain battery very fast and would be cheaper and more efficient to get a wireless card from your service provider (if they have them, they do at 3 in Australia)
