Few quick questions from a noob

Just got my N95 last week and need some help from ya'll

1.How does the GPS really work? Does it have to get connected online and to a satelitte to be able to obtain and lock on current location? And if so, could this happen while driving in a car, or do you have to stand still to get a signal and locked? I wish there was a sticky thread with all the GPS info/instruction.

2.I have seen people recommending the Map programs. I followed a link and downloaded the map for my state and surrounding states as well. However I do not see where I can run this program. Did it just add the map to my exisiting Map Application? and if yes, what is the benefit of adding it to an exisiting map on the phone!?

3.I saw on one of the Nokia demo's on Youtube, someone used a search function to find peoples home phone info. Is there such program for Nokia, or was this just a regular whitepages search program online

1) No you just need a satellite lock to get the location. But in some countries, you need to be online to earch for an address. And you have to pay for the voice navigation (but the voices themselves are free). You can drive and get a lock, but it may take longer (takes me 1 minute when driving)

3) If the other person has an N95, they can send you their GPS location and your N95 will show you where they are, so you can navigate to them. Obviously you need to know their phone number

2) The Maps application is the GPS application that shows your position in the world. The map that you download from Maploader lets you see your position based on streets, Points of Interest, etc for your area. Without the map loaded in, you wouldn't be able to see streets and do route calculation etc.
