N95-2 + o2 = voip?

I have a N95 8GB on O2 contract with the 'unlimited web add on'. I know that N95-2 does support VOIP but have heard stuff such as some providers block the use of VOIP- are o2 one of them?

EDIT: Or worse.. what if they charge me saying voip not included on unlimited web bolt on !

You are right! .... Orange does block the SIP servers ..... don't know about O2 maybe they do as well, the only way is to have your phone unlocked then it will allow VoIP calls. My N95 was locked to Orange now unlocked and I have a permanent connection to three SIP servers.

Unlocking wont help, it's debranding you need.

Well apparently Vodafone also lock the voip calls but I run Fring on mine with no problem on Voda FW.
I have unlocked both of mine courtesy of Vodafone's free unlock code though so that may have made a differance but I doubt it .
To be honest I think it depends on what VOIP program you use as to whether the block is effective

Yes I'd say that's right. Usually VoIP is 'disabled' when branded just by removing the Internet Tel. application in the Connectivity settings.

Nothing to stop you installing Fring/Skype or whatever. Guess they'd just assume/ hope that customers don't know about them.

Thanks for your replys
but does anyone have any firsthand experience with o2? One reason i went with them is that they give unlocked phones with minimal debranding. I dont want to debrand my phone.
