N85 vs. N95 or N96: 3G, WiFi. OR What's the difference?

Is there any advantage of the N85 vs. the N95/6 with respect to 3G or WiFi. What's the difference between them?

The N85 is the best of those three, although they are all very similar specs-wise. It is smaller, sports a better screen (AMOLED), FM transmitter, has a bigger battery (1200mA), which lasts longer due to the screen and FP2.

No difference for 3G or WiFi (except that FP2 handles access points better from what I understand).

Does anybody know the (approximate) price of the N85 when it's due to come out?

EDIT: Sorry, I found it.

You forgot to mention the fact that the N85 has about 40% less RAM than the N95.

You also seemed to confuse battery information as the N95 uses a BL-6F battery and it is also 1200 mA. The primary difference is that OLED displays use more power so even though it has a smaller screen the n85 will likely use more power to power that screen.

The n85 and the N96 are both downgrades from the N95 from a hardware standpoint.

And oh yeah.... No pencil key on the N85? You might as well have an Iphone that doesn't cut/copy and paste.

You're getting confused. With the N95-1 / -2 with the N85.

No, you're confusing your self. The N95 has a 950 mAH BL-5F. The OLED Screens use around 30% LESS power than a traditional N95 style LCD. It's screen is brighter, better and uses less power. Again you've got confused with the 95-1 & 95-2's+

Why is the N85 a downgrade from a hardware point of view ?

They both still use an ARM11 CPU, The N85 has slightly more power. N95 1 uses Dual CPU at 332mhz, the N85 uses a single Cpu at 369hmz, both with 3D Graphics HW Accelerator.

Pencil key options are still available on the N85, just not via dedicated pencil key anymore. Do some research.

pardon me, when I said N95 I should have been saying n95 8GB.

Fact
N95 8GB has 128 MB of RAM, the N85 has 78 MB of RAM (thats a downgrade)
the N95 8GB has a 2.8" screen, The N85 has a 2.6" screen (thats a downgrade)

You are correct that I did make a mistake about power consumption related to the screen. What I should have pointed out is that an OLED has about one quarter the life span of an n95 8GB screen.

With regards to the pencil key and the functionality it brings, I have read as much as I can find regarding the N85 and everything I have read seems to indicate that the pencil key is replaced by the hash key for changing text input method. Well actually that is not a change at all because you can use the hash key on the N95 8GB to change the input method. What you can NOT do with the hash key and what I have not seen ANY indication of is you can NOT copy and paste using the hash key. The apparent removal of the copy and paste feature is indeed a downgrade and IMHO a big one.

Once again the N95 8GB uses a 1200 mA battery. The N85 does NOT have a bigger battery.

The N85 also has a non standard data port. Another downgrade.

Depends, if they used the new method of creating OLED, then it actually outlasts the normal screens.

No, its still there. Forget which key, but it most certainly is.

Nnngggg. ITS NOT NON STANDARD.

Its not as common as mini, but it will very soon become standard. I have more phones that use micro than mini at the moment.

I daresay cameras etc will follow.

I get the impression you dont want the N85 to 'win'.

At the end, its down to each person preference, but IMO the N85 has it beat in specs.

Depending on which N95 your comparing it too...lets say the 8GB.

Its going to last much longer with batterylife - same size, but FP2 consumes much less, and couple that with the OLED screen.

Its smaller, thinner.

It does have less RAM, but apperently FP2 handles it much better.

It has USB 2 speeds.

It can charge via USB.

It allegedly has a much better slider - while some people might not have had problems, it was a recognised problem on the N95s.

It has a lens cover.

It has a duel LED flash. Not as good as xenon, but much better than the N95's single LED (see AAS comparisons).

GPS will be better positioned.

Card slot - which means both more memory, and the ability to swap cards if need be.

Those points make it a huge winner for me, the N95 8gb only has the following over it:

Bigger screen

More running memory (although I dont think theres going to be a difference with FP2 running on the N85).

Price

If you prefer the N95, by all means stick with it, no-one is forcing you to change. But the fact is, most people on this forum see the N85 as an upgrade, and this is from people whom really love their N95s.
