can upgrading re-lock the phone simlock?

some1 wants me to upgrade their phone to v30, which is currently unlocked, but is on "3"s product code. the latest available firmware is v20, which is already on it.

what im planning on doing is changing the product code, then updating it to v30. what i need to make sure is that it wont get rid of the unlock. like is there any method of unlocking the phone that would relock when the update is done. im pretty sure it wont, as ive done my own debrand and update, but seeing as its not my phone i want to make sure. thanks

No, it won't reapply the sim lock.

no it does not re-apply the simlock as the Firmware does not touch the chipset which houses the lock codes
