Hi All,
First, i'd like to say what a cool site and the great support from people on this site. Now, to the problem... i need your help ASAP. I'm trying to update my N95 8gig firmware to the latest version. I installed the Nokia Nseries PC Suite and from there i launch Nokia Software Updater apps. I follow the steps but when the program was installing my stupid laptop ran out of disk space so i had to delete some files/programs to clear space. After i was done doing that i continue with the updating the software... now it's on step 3/3 but its being in that stage from 7ish PM last night until this morning! I know that it can't take this long to upgrade the firmware so what are my choices? The screen says "Do not disconnect the cable or switch off the phone. Disconnecting the cable will cause severe damage to your phone and may stop working." Please HELP :( PS. i searched but did not see anything that is related to what i encountered. Try downloading NSU on its own as a separate application. Nokia Europe - Device software update - Support Then close the NSU running currently on your laptop for Task Manager and launch it again. Ideally it should find your phone and restart/resume the upgrade. If this doesn't work, come back here with full details of what happened and what error messages you got. Do NOT disconnect, take out battery, etc. even if it asks you to. Click Continue, if nothing happens, again close from task manager and try again. Good luck !

Thanks for your respond. My question is how do i proceed when my phone is still supposedly waiting for nokia software updater to finish. It still stuck on step 3/3 waiting to update the software. I'm afraid if i disconnect the phone etc that the phone will get hosed up. Any suggestion on what i can do?

Well i managed to get out of it. But when i tried to update the firmware it does not seems to recongized the phone. I thought i've download the version for US N95 8gig software but it's not seeing it. Any suggestions?

Uninstall all Nokia software from your computer (I told you Nseries PC Suite was a mistake), reboot and then install the standard PC Suite, current version is 7.8.2. Hook up the phone and try running NSU again. I myself have downloaded it as a separate application, since the version included in PC Suite was usually older than the currently available, however I think now both are the same 1.4.53 version, so it doesn't matter which one you launch.

I had the same problem last week.Updater would not find the phone at all no matter what i did.So i deleted updater,went to Nokia's web site and put in phones code,downloaded updater and all went well.It took me days to get there but it was worth it.I used Windows XP,never have got Vista to work with updates.Good luck and keep trying.
