New user few (many) General Questions

well one problem I have is that videos that I am taking with it do not appear in the video centre, and that the video centre isn't showing what is in the sub folders of the "Video Clips" folder in the root folder on the "card", it shows only what is directly in the "Video clips" folder (files made by the phone - mp4 - are stored in sub folders of this folder).

is it possible to use the GPS function without an active internet connection (e.g. in the middle of the desert) something that will only tell me my location in numbers. why does it need the connectivity anyway? is it for the map functionallity??? aren't the maps stored in the phone?

some good pages for freewares for it

the data transfer function (when connecting the phone via USB to the computer) doesn't work for me, is it because I am using a MacBook or am I doing something wrong?

The internet function of the GPS is what adds the 'A' in A-GPS (Assisted GPS).
It jumps onto the mobile data network to use cell towers to zero in on your location to help lock a satellite faster.
So, yes, you can use GPS without a data connection, it just may take up to a few minutes to get a lock.
Maps are stored on the memory card/mass memory IF you have downloaded them using Nokia Map Loader.

well here it is :)
How do I access and use the recorder on my Nokia device?
To record voice memos, press the Menu key, and select Applications > Multimedia > Recorder. To record a telephone conversation, open Recorder during a voice call. Both parties hear a tone every 5 seconds during recording.

another Q: when using setting the sound for anything like the alarm clock or the new mail I get a list of allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the music files on the device, without option to search or even folders, this is making the search for one particular file very long and tiring. any thoughts on how to avoid that???
when I go to a music file through the file manager I can't see the option for using it as a ringing tone for the phone or for a contact, is the only way to set these things is through that looonnng list in the sound controls ???

  1. Put ringtones on the phone memory
  2. Put music files on the mass memory
  3. Connect the phone to the PC in data transfer mode
  4. Pick from a list of ringtones ;)

Also, if you wanna set the ringtone as a song, you can do it from the music player.
