Talking Charger Probs... N95

Here we go again... yet another problem.
Have just found out that my charger isnt charging my phone. Does anyone no if theres a detection circuit built into the charger? What I mean is that when the charger is plugged in but not connected to the phone, is there a constant 5v being supplied. Or does it only provide the 5v if it detects a battery to charge? Have just ordered a new genuine just to be on the safe side. ALSO!! I mentioned in a previous post that my phone was labeled a Nokia Prototype inside and was the property of Nokia and was not to be sold. I purchased the phone a few months ago & because the exchange of funds was done rather quickly I guessed something was wrong. Anyway I took it to my local Nokia service center and they informed me that there was very little chance the phone would have warrenty. The other day I took the chance and rang Nokia direct as I was a little unsure about using the phone (could it be stolen) They informed me that on thier records the phone wasnt ment to be in this country and should be in the Philippines. They told me I can continue to use the phone now that they have it registered to me.. And it has 6 months of warrenty on it. They were still slightly confused because of my strange IMEI number and various other details from the phone. They know the product code and also the firmware version and said they will still repair my phone if theres any problems with it. I told them I only got the phone and charger in the sale.. Guess wot!! a set of headphones are in the post including data cable. Good old Nokia. I didnt want to push my luck and ask them for a charger though.. besides.. it was working when I made the call. I have this site as my home page now as I find Im on here more than any other site.. Keep up the good work on here.. its a great site.

No it wasnt like that.. I arranged with the seller to meet.. He arrived being driven by his mother.. He was about 17 years old. The exchange happened quick.. I had a quick look at the phone and made sure it powered up. After the sale and I realised there was a problem he took all of his other listings off the internet and dissapeared.. The phone number he gave me in case of problems was non existant. These things happen. Nokia said its fine so im happy

this 'mother' of his was blatantly his older woman accomplice..

as for the charger providing 5v constantly if its not attached to a phone - it wouldnt, where would the 5v be going? there isnt a complete circuit..

you can get an official nokia charger quite cheap anyway, may be your easiest bet

doesnt work that way... if you use a volt meter on a charger you can measure the volts.. they dont normally have to be plugged into a device to supply power.. I was just wondering if the charger will only start charging (supply power) when it detects a load.. i

It doesn't 'detect' anything, it simply can't charge without a 'load' as until something is connected (be it the N95 of your mulitmeter) there is an open circuit.
