Converting Apple Lossless for the N95 8GB

I am planning to rip my entire CD collection into Apple Lossless. When that is done i can easily batch encode everything to AAC for use on my iPod etc. I also need to be able to batch encode stuff for my N95. Of course, i can use the AAC files from iTunes, but the N95 supports HE-AAC audio which is of course to be preferred (i usually use just 48 or 64kbps).

According to some googling, the Nokia Music Manager should be able to convert from Apple Lossless, but so far it has failed when i have tried ( Music manager does however play back the Apple lossless files).

Anyone know a good way to perform this conversion (such that it preserves meta data and album art in the HE-AAC files)?

you may want to look into FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec), its a way beter format that is supported by a lot more devices than apple lossless

I use Winamp to convert to HE-AAC+ but although it preserves all tags it WILL NOT preserve the album art.

I can always convert to FLAC later (thats the advantage of choosing any lossless format ;).

I dont intend to ever play back the lossless music itself, its simply for archival purposes, so it does not matter which devices support it.

Right now we have two iPods, one of which is going to act as our stereo at home, so iTunes and Apple lossless is much more convenient.

I would like to be able to do this without having my N95 hooked up, but doubleTwist seems to only be able to sync or share, not just convert.
