Energy Profiler - Can someone do me a favour?

I have been suffering with poor battery life (I think since updating to v30). As nobody else seems to report the same I put the poor performance down to the battery.

Well, yesterday I was loaned a known good battery and I am getting about the same life from it.

It seems that the meter stays full or near ful for ages and then suddenly plummets, sometimes from 3 bars to zero!

Now, I downloaded Nokia Energy Profiler to check power consumption.

On running the application with NOTHING else running, my meter 0.2W with the backlight on and 0.1 without.

This doesn't seem excessive to me but can anyone else do the same and let me know what their readings are showing for the graph?

Thanks, look forward to the results!

Hmmm, I've only scanned the articles but for my purpose they seem to be overcomplicating things - with geotagging / Nokia Vine etc. Also, the shots are from a N82 it seems?

I just need someones initial startup fgure when using Energy Profiler for comparison purposes. Ideally from the same phone using the same firmware. Although comparisons to v21 would be useful too.

Now checked against a phone running v20. Exactly the same!

Had the same problem with the battery indicator today though, full bars this morning, down to three early afternoon them straight down to one - with nothing in between.

As I've checked this with two batteries, it has to be firmware!

I have complained about poor battery life as well on the V30 Topic...but nobody else seemed to have picked on it...in fact some of the users reported precisely the opposite.

However, my situation is as you describe!

The battery indicator at one given moment shows several bars, leading to a false sense of security () and suddenly it plummets all the way down and you hear the dreadful sound "low battery"....

And even though I complained before, I insist V21 had a better battery performance than V30.

Hi Spyda.
This won't help you much, but I can confirm my battery life went through the floor when I upgraded the firmware revision from [whatever it was when I bought the phone from OrangeUK, 18 months ago] to 13.0.003 a couple of weeks ago.

Prior to the upgrade my batteries would last 3-4 days, now they don't even last a day.

My usage is very light: perhaps half a dozen texts per day, and maybe one voice call every couple of days.

Yesterday I was onsite at a client, and needed to use the phone for an internet connection (for a total of about 15min), and also made about 10min worth of voice calls (plus perhaps a dozen text messages), and that lot drained almost two batteries.

The battery used to drain pretty quickly when I was using the GPS: if I was out on a six hour hike, I'd need to take two fully charged batteries with me, but other than that, the stand-by time was quite good.

I'm seriously thinking of downgrading the firmware again (not sure if that is possible?)

Hmm just opened energy profiler, just charged the phone up fully til the notification came up.

Nokia profiler is reporting a usage of 2W! with 58minutes on the timer, what the hell?

EDIT: Only app open is energy profiler, this is with backlight on and off

EDIT 2: Ok some idiot may have not realised the charger was in, woops.

Is 10hours a normal amount of time for the phone to be on standby? Thats what my phones reporting

well ive noticed my battery life get worse with version 30 too. although the energy profiler shows the same results as it used to on v21.

oh and im 99% certain firmware downgrades are not possible, although i do have a theory on that but it would only be possible for us NCP's to do cause it involves killing the phone to death
