Identifying a Branded / Un-branded N95
I live in the UK
Bought my N95 on o2 contract yesterday. I use me pre-pay / payasyougo o2 simcard in the phone. I need to know if my phone is branded or not? How do I tell? The box for the phone did not contain any o2 logo. It was a green Nokia box. There is no logo on the phone case itself. It displays the nokia logo when starting up and plays a pretty sound. Can any one tell me how to identify if my phone is branded or not? What are the KEY differences between branded non branded that I would notice. |

Do you have the o2 startup screen when you turn the handset on?

Nokia N95 EURO Product Codes and Language Packs at the Nokia blog What is your Operator Variant? This is the number in brackets on the last line when you enter *#0000#. I had an O2 Phone from the Carphone Warehouse and the only difference I noticed between it and a true unbranded/generic N95 was that pressing and holding down the * key didn't switch between the General and Silent profiles. Other Operators branding is more invasive - I believe that T-Mobile and Vodafone N95s can't use VOIP. Aren't you better off using your free minutes? |

Orange and Vodafone are the shockers .. T-Mobile left the phone alone apart from putting their version of Web browser on it and even that is standard except they have deleted and added bookmarks etc.

There is no o2 theme on the phone either. I cant take my battery out at the moment phone will be in use today. I could do tonight. Pressing and holding */# does not change my profile at all. Is there any more pointers untill I get my code to identify? Thanks |

Its a UK Carphone Warehouse O2 variant.
Why do you need to know - its probably unlocked, mine was. And that's easy enough to test. |
