Text Message Time and Date Stamp

Hi Folks,

I've been the proud owner now of an N95 since the week it came out, I am running Firmware version 10.0.018 on Orange (Branded and wont let me update)

I have found something very very annoying that has never happened on any of my other phones; hope this is a bug that will be fixed.

If I receive a txt message and my phone is out of service, it is, (obviously) received when my phone is back in coverage, however, if you go to message details to find out what time the message was actually sent to me by the sender it only shows the time and date of when it arrived on my phone.

All my other phones to date have always shown the actual time the message was sent to my phone (even if I was out of signal range) Which is quite handy when trying to deal with some messages or take in account when people say "Just leaving now" without putting a time...

This is really bugging me now! Anybody else come across this, or knows if it is handled differently on the newer firmware?

Cheers,

Matt

I'm having the exact same problem. there is no time stamp on the received messages and **** everytime I need to go to the message details, everytime!! It's the most annoying thing I discovered in this phone.
I'm guessing they "forgot" to implement it. Otherwise it's just stupid not to put there, this is like buying a car without cup holder. just silly.

Yeah, you can go to Message details to see the time and date stamp, but couldn't that be appended to the end of the message like other phones do...

The problem that I posted was the fact that if you were sent a message when out of service, for example at 10:22AM and you don't get a signal until say 11:45, the message details reads as if the message was sent at 11:45, so you have no actual way of knowing what time it was sent, annoying when somebody sends text like "Just leaving now"

All my other phones I have had would say 10:22 even if I didn't get the message delivered to my phone until 11:45 (i.e. showing the actual time the sender sent me the message)

Cheer's

Matt

Angry

Same problem here too - this is going to cause so many arguments with the girlfriend now..........!

This is my first Nokia phone but, in my opinion, there are just too many silly 'quirks' like this that suggest it hasn't been thought about properly at the design stage - I don't think I'll ever buy another Nokia, back to SE next time.

Just looked this up on Nokia Support Discussions - Nokia Support Discussions in messaging and Smartphones, and there appears to be no specific N95 users mentioning this.

What there is on the subject says:

1) Either this is a afault with your SIM Card
2) Your network hasn't upgraded to some new Nokia data stamp component on their SMSC

Maybe it's worth posting on the Nokia forums for an official answer/fix.
